painted my battery tie down, rice or nice?

i saw my battery tie down paint was starting to peel and rust so i decided to take the paint off and polish it...yeh right. it was too much of a pain to get all the paint off and i had some high heat red paint so i sanded it down a bit and painted right over it. at first it was ok, then for some reason i applied like 5 coats and that make the paint job a bit crappy. but i guess its still better than a peeling rusting one. by the way does anyone know where to get a cheap polished one? here is the link to my page with the pic, tell me what you think. thanx.

Nice

I just added some hose tubing to my Max (RED) I painted all my caps under the hood red and also painted the Battery Positive cover red. Now I am going to paint the Battery Tie Down red along with the Plastic Battery Cover red too. Not the battery itself, but the casing that goes around it. I figured since I have painted my calipers red, might as well make everything in the engine bay red too. Pics to follow later tonight!!!!

I painted all my Caps, The Battery Tie Bar and Battery Compartment along with some Hose Covers. I think thats all I will do for the Engine Bay. Well, almost as I want to get a Nice Black Engine Cover from the Altima.

New Plastic Paint

I went to Lowe's and well on TV I saw that theres a new paint out for Plastics. Its called Plastic Enamel by Valspar. I decided to paint the inside of the engine bay to match my red rotors. I used the the red rotor paint to paint my Battery Tie Down. As far as the hoses, I got the plastic hose covers from Pep Boys for like $4.99 for 4ft. Only a few more hoses to go and it will be finished.
Thanks for the compliments!!!

I saw a 350Z with hoses, caps, etc in a royal blue color. IMO the blue looked nicer than the red, less flashy, more classy. But the red looks cool too, i had red in my old car

Super6 - Your battery tie looks good.

hct67 - Your enigine bay looks tight. Too bad you didn't get the red custommaxima FSTB. That would look sweet.

You guys just gave me some ideas.

You red looks a bit brighter than what I used. I used some High-temp stuff, so it won't bubble or peel.

I painted all my caps and the Stillen FSTB end parts...

Ssswwwweeeeeeeeeeeet

I started out with just a few of the caps and then got addicted to it. I did all the caps, the battery tie down, the battery casing and then saw hose covers at Pep Boys and decided to do all the visible hoses. What else can I do under there? Well for one, I would really like to if its possible paints the engine cover black like the Altima's and then paint the V6 3.5 in red. I think that would finish off the engine bay for sure. What do you think of a black engine cover like the altima and having the V6 3.5 in Red?

If you're going to paint it red, keep it consistant with the others. If you want to take it a step futher, paint the stock intake scoop. Actually that might be over doing it.

Mine shrunk

I had to make my own after the battery shrunk and I just painted in flat black. Now it only weighs 6 lbs and yes it starts the car multiple times just fine. It cost $29 and came in a battery pack used to start cars, its 300 cold cranking amps.

No comments on the intake, I am still working on it and don't plan on leaving the flex section in. For the track it will go right out the headlight opening to a 3" velocity stack.

Its for racing, a lightening technique only.

Its not for winter. You can use whatever battery you want in YOUR Max, thats what I do.

Engine Cover

I really want to paint my Engine Cover Black and also paint the V6 3.5 Red, I think this would really finish off the engine bay and make it look very very sharp!! What does everyone think?

Painting Engine Cover Tonight

Well, i went to the garage thats putting on my Tokico's and Tein H Techs and asked them to take of the Engine Cover for me. Anyways, I went to an AutoParts store, got me some 800 grit sandpaper, Some BrakeKleen ( Non Clhorinated) and some Black High Heat with Ceramic 1200 degree made by Dupli-Color paint. I already sanded it down, sprayed it with the BakeKleen and put on the first coat of paint. The first coat stuck to the engine cover perfectly. Thats what I was worried about. Hopefully by 11pm tonight I will have it painted with about 3 to 4 coats. Then I will let it dry overnight and in the A.M. I will paint the V6 3.5 with the 1200 Degree Red paint. I will post pics tomorrow sometime when I get my car back from the Shock/Spring install.

Painted Engine Cover

Well, I painted the Engine Cover Last Night with some 1200 degree paint. Didn't come out to bad for what I paid in supplies. 800 grit sandpaper and 1200 degree black paint = $8.00 compared to going to Nissan and spending over $100 for a new Altima Engine Cover

Thanks

Thanks, appreciate the compliment. It was such an easy job to do also. A little bit of sanding with 800 grit paper and then just clean it up and paint.

Hey, Nice job on the enigne cover. Thought you were going to paint the "V6 3.5" in red? Or is that a for later? Cool! So what's next?

I Tried

I tried, it was a pain in the A** to do and it kept removing the black paint that I painted the engine cover with. So I have an idea on how to get it painted. I live close to the beach here in NJ and was thinking of bringing some High temperture paint to one of the Boardwalk stores who do air brushing and let them paint it. I wouldn't think it could cost more the $10 or so. Plus I just brought a Heat Shield for my Air Filter, I am in the process of painting that red now as we speak!!!! Plus I want to paint my MidPipe red also just to finish it off.
I will have new pics a little bit later today and post them!!!!

I think it looks great. It would look even better if you painted the "V6 3.5" the same color red as the caps, etc. Maybe you could tape it off and use some different paint than the original paint you used for the original red (same color though). Possibly even lightly sand it and then prime it first?

Tape

I was thinking of taping it, but not sure what kind of tape to you. Maybe I could get something decent at Home Depot or Lowe's that will not really stick to the engine cover to much where it might pull off the black paint.

Tape

Does anyone know of a good tape that really doesn't stick to other painted surfaces. What I am trying to do is, I painted my engine cover black but am afraid that if I use regular tape it will wither stick way to much to the cover or actually rip off the paint. I want to paint the V6 3.5 on the engine cover red to match the rest of the engine bay!!! All help would be appreciated!!!!
