swaping my 2k to 2k3 what is needed?

I found realy good deal on 2k3 engine just 6000 miles with manual trans from junkyard for $1500 .

The car was totaled after an accident to the back of the car ,nothing was dameged in the front.

I'm not worried about the trans ,because i know it will fit.But about the engine what exactly is needed to complete the swap ?,I know for sure i will need new ECU ,and is there enough room for the 3.5 engine under my 3.0 hood.

Thanks in advance.

Size wise it will fit. Wiring and electricals not sure. But if you want to go with it, just strip everything in the engine of the other car, along with the gauge cluster.

If you have all the neccessary cabling and ecu, it should be a matter of mxiing and matching of misc electrics.

Unsure about the axles...

It's not that easy sometimes. I maybe cheaper for him to put the 3.5 engine in, instead of selling his car and getting a 02-03.

The only way it will be cheaper is if he does not plan to sell the car for a long time. The swap will absolutely destroy trade-in/private sale value - unless you get lucky and sell to a poor schmuch who doesn't realize the difference.

And, no offense, but even as much as I like to mod my cars, I wouldn't buy anyone else's home swap!

you may not be so confident if the engine swap doesn't come out well....remember there are alot of things that can go wrong, and you don't know the condition of the engine in the other car (whether it was maintained, abused, etc...)

The car belong to an old lady she drove the car for 6 month most of the miles on the highway.

The accident wasn't her fault she was at stop light and another car hit her from the back druning 2003 winter.

Unless the tranny is 6 speed, I don't think it's worth it.

Get the HID's while you're at it if they haven't been taken already.

I say go ahead and to it...be different...also go ahead and strip the car of its entire wiring harness if you're indeed going to do this. I can say from experience that its more than likely that the harness is different in some places...but better safe than sorry...just pull it all...and do the complete swap that way...u should eliminate any potential electrical problems...
