brake pads

i was washing my car today and when i started to wash my rims i noticed sumthing sticking out of the brakepad. it looks like a gold clip or sumthing and it sticks out far enough for da spoke of the rim to hit it. on the other side i don't have that problem. what should i do?

If it is a pointy piece of metal comping out of the end of the brake pad, chances are it is the metal pad return spring guide that poped out of place. It should be bent makeing a loop and be inserted into the ear of the pad. Look closely at the other "good" side and see the difference. You might be able to bend it back into the pad, but if it is messed up you will have to go to the dealer, purchase "brake hardware kit" which will include 4 brake pad shims and 4 thin metal pad guides/return spring mechanisms.....then take your wheel off, undo ONE caliper bolt and replace the broken guide....30 minute job. All you need is a 12mm socket.
