???clutch???

hey everyone,

so i have to replace my clutch and was wondering if i should go with the nissan stock one or maybe spice things up with an aftermarket one????

my nissan mechanic said that i should be careful when choosing a clutch because some of them (or all, not sure) require you to change the flywheel also, which in turn may or may not have a negative effect on the sensor that is on the flywheel.

not too sure what to do here,

the baby is a 2001 SE AE 5spd

any insight would help out a great deal, we'll let the price stay out of this one and pretend it has no bearing

thanx all

rax

I love my ACT clutches.... KEY VALUE NISSAN clutch sucks- its like 100 bux for both pressure plate, disk, throw out bearing and a aligment tool. Its not the orginal clutch that comes with our Nissans, its made by LUK I belive where the stock OE clutch is made by EXEDY and it costs about 300 bux for PPlate, disk, and throw out bearing. ACT clutches run bout 360 bux or so. I would watch on Ebay alot of times ya can find one there for a 240SX- SR20DET. They use a 3.0L Max clutch and the listings will say Maxima/SR20DET swap ACT or something. I usually charge about 650 for ACT clutch installed- that is Parts and labor- with me supplying the parts and doing the labor. And NO there is no clutch out there for a Maxima that needs a "special" flywheel. If U wanna put in a light weight flywheel make sure U remove the crank sensor ring gear off the stock flywheel- its on the back held by 8 bolts. Failure to do so will result in a check engine light for the crank angle sensor. Ur Nissan tech is totally wrong here. U might need to have your stock flywheel resurfaced if there are any major heat spots in it- kinda like having your brake rotors turned in order to get rid of steering wheel shaking when braking. Similar rule applies to the flywheel.
