Custom Maxima Polished Racing Straight Pipe

What do you guys think about this pipe? Is it worth it? If so, what about the sound? I have an automatic and don't want it to sound like a Civic?

you can get the same thing for $50-$100 from a muffler shop.
all you need is a piece of pipe with flanges.
dont believe the hype about a "polished racing straight pipe"
im getting one made for $70 this weekend

I have the CM one. It's resonated and will not make your exhaust any louder. The $25 ones are just a pipe with no resonator. I've heard that those will increase the exhaust sound.

It has been said for awhile that the highflow cats and the straight pipes dont really offer much to the 5th gen unless you are FI. If you are planning on ever passing emisions again and are lazy (i.e. removing pipe and placing the cat back on) dont do it. I really dont see how it can help that much. I mean people have even said that they cant tell that much of a difference when they put a cat-back system on let alone a test pipe.

It might make some difference. I have one, and figure...why not?

The CM one is nice and shiny SS, resonated, and if a cop went to look at it, it might pass for a cat.

Why would a cop crawl under your car to look for a cat? He would probably just give you a speeding ticket and make you remove your tint and clears LOL

Custom Maxima Racing Pipe

I drive a 97 Maxima Se. I have had the custom maxima test pipe on my car which is all motor for about a year. Recently, I took it off and put back on the stock cat.

the small chart below shows what effect it had on my 1/4 mile runs. Notice the higher humidity, and due to poor track prep and lack of traction my 60 foots were on avg higher as well, but the stock cat performed equal to a test pipe, if not a hair better.

My 4th gen avg the same et (within 1/100 th) with 1 mph higher traps. I got 8-9 passes in both days at the track. Looking at my best runs of the day, with higher humidity and a higher 60 foot I ran 1/100 th faster. All in all, I see no sign of any significant gains with the racing pipe.

again these are just my findings, someone else may have different test results
