Painting front grill...

Painting front grill...

Do i need to use some primer on it before i paint so it will stick? and also for those who have done this.... did u use a clearcoat afterwards??? thanks

you need to sand it down a little bit to make it rough and then prime it. I didn't use any clear coat. this is what I did: Sanded it down, primed and then sprayed 2 coats of flat black. Then I masked out everything that was not silver color before and painted the rest glossy black. I had to wet sand and buff it later to get a really nice gloss or you could use a clear coat, which is probably better.

somebody on the org with a black 2k-2k1 painted their grill black...it looks real nice. can't remember who, though. Holla!

I primed mine (2 layers) then put on 3 layers of white paint. Need to clear coat mine to prevent chips, as I've already had to do an additional 2 coats to make it look nice again. The original lasted about 4 months. I put a layer of wax on it, made it a lil shiny and adds some protection. A bunch of pics are on my homepage.
Before cleared out HID's:

Definitely finish it up w/ few coats of clear coat.

can u tell me what kind of paint u used .. is it the car paint and how did you take off the grill and
all that stuff.. you can pm me if its too long thanks
