2k Max GLE/SE vs 2k Millenia S

Hi,

I just sold my integra today and I'm in the market for my replacement.
I've been having my eyes on 2k MAX SE 5spd for a long time, but when the time finally came, I'm camparing it with others that's available.

From a whole sale used car lot (they buy cars from auctions and put $400 marging on to sell), I find 2k MAX SE at $14000 CAD, and 2k Millenia S at $14000 CAD as well with 100k km on the clock for both. I know it sucks not to have manual tranny for millenia S, but if I remember correctly, it was $3-4k more expensive than maxima's.

I was wondering how the two compare?
Reliability, Maintenance, performance etc.

Thanks

YJ

You'll find bias opinions at this forum.. obviously

but,

the Supercharged, Millenia S is slow as *****.

Nissan also excels in reliability and maintenance..
buying a supercharged from factory Mazda with the miller cycle 2.3 engine is dangerous with 100k miles.. A good ol' VQ from Nissan is a lot more maintenance and problem free.

So in all aspects, the maxima is a nicer car, especially performance.

The Millenias don't look too bad, but i'd still take the maxima...

I've never been a fan of millenia S but it was selling so cheap compared to the original price. So I just wanted to check out the possibility of me purchasing it. I'm reading up all the reviews about it right now. I already know pretty much everything about MAX though. My all time favorite
But at this stage, (beginnig of new car search) I would like to have all options open.
Having gas price close to $1 CAD / liter (that's about $3/gal I think) thesedays, I'm even considering a civic LOL.

historically

Mazdas also have a crappier resale value

I hear you with the gas prices. I'm considering something fuel efficient too..
just between these cars, the clear choice is the maxima.

yeah~
I'm checking out mazdaworld.org forums right now to gather more info about it.

I'm already starting to feel I should rule out millenia S though

Qmax03,
Good to hear from a previous millenia s owner.
I also checked the insurance of both cars and it turned out mill S is 1.5 times more expensive to insure. $1100 CAD for MAX SE vs $1700 CAD for mill S.

Millenia S is rulled out finally !!

Don't be too fast. I haven't bought MAX yet
I just rulled out millenia s, that's all
I still have to figure out how much I want to spend for my replacement car.
I might get crazy and buy 97-98 M3 (I'm actually going to check this out). or get crazy in other direction and buy 99 3.5 RL for luxury. (All of them are under $20,000 CAD, 2k MAX SE being $14-15k CAD)
It's just that Max overall suits me for my need.

before i bought my max i considered these cars -

Lincoln LS (luxury, RWD 260 hp)
Acural CL-s (couple, FWD 260 hp)

i actually went to buy a Lincoln LS and took one for a spin. its an amazing car but then i saw the black on black maxima on the lot and took it out on a whim. long story short i was signing paperwork within 30 minutes and saved myself about 4 thousand dollars. overall for performance and luxery its gonna be hard to find a better deal than the maxima, i know because i looked for months before deciding on those 2 other cars, and in less than an hour the maxima changed my mind

My friend had a Millenia S, one day he tells me he's car does 0-60 in 6.6, and my car does it in 7.6!!!!!!! Now car & driver had got 8.0 for the same test, so where is he coming with 6.6.... Anyway he wanted to race so we did, by the time I got to 90, he was already 5car lenths down (Kill #1). And at the end of the race I told him mine can do it in "5.6".....FU he tells me after.

Later that year he sold the car because he ran into some problems, mainly problem was that the SC blew and some electronic problem also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car was sold with 81k miles on it!!!!!!!!!! So get the max!!!!!!

I guess more complicated design (miller cycle + SC), more likely to go wrong in the long run.

The Millenia S is a good looking car, but that's where it all ends. bad tranny, terrible power to weight, lousy gas mileage (for it's displacement size)...

I could go on and on...
