VQ35DE problems!

Hey guys... weird...

I noticed my engine is rattling a bit..

SO i noticed on a little tap on the throttle in neutral, and i hear this rattling noise coming from the engine.

I don't know what it is. The car drives perfect. But the noise is concerning me.

Is this another incident of the infamous throttle plate screw coming loose and getting sucked in? If so, you'll need a new engine.

You just waiting for these like I am?

MiniRX7,

Unhook that bellow piece that connects to the throttle-body and peak inside at the throttle-plate. If there isn't TWO screws there, you need to put your car back to stock and prepare for the dealer to get you a new engine.

Keep us posted on what you find out.

Do you have this cam sprocket TSB? I would like to take a look at this and take this to the dealer. I was told this may be a possible problem of why i get this rattle. Thanks!

The TSB is only for that rattle that comes immediately after starting the engine. I think the rattle he's talking about is different. I get that rattle too, in neutral and around the 1800-2200 RPM mark. Went to the dealer several times for it, they don't know what it is (1st blamed it on gas, 2nd time on sensor recall, 3rd bent heat shields, etc etc).

Does anyone have a pic of the TB and what to "unhook" to check if the 2 screws are there?

well that actually might be the problem for that since i jus got my tb replaced and i do think it start get the noises way louder then before when the check engine light came on for the tb. so check for the missin screw first. and if its trully that i need a new engine i doubt they given me that. o well most liekly will have to live with the noise.

You know fellas, that rattle that you hear when you start your engine i had that too, but min went away when i had the Crank angle sensor TSB done on my car, now i have no more rattles. i could contact my dealeship and ask what the tech did to remove that rattle .

OMFG..

I am goign to check..

Heres the thing, it sounds like VALVE chatter, but even louder than before.

The oil i am using is the AMSOIL 0W30 Series 2000... I change the oil every 9000KMs (not miles)..

I wonder if the weight of the oil is too thin causing excessive valve noise.

Yeah, when you FIRST start up the car, you can get timing chain slap or valves clatter before the oil gets up there.

However, he's talking about tapping the throttle. If it gets louder with RPM, it could be the METAL PIECES bouncing around in the cylinder from the broken up screw.

Pull the plastic "accordian" looking piece that attaches to the TB and peek inside with a flashlight. All you need is a screw driver to loosen the hose clamp and 30-seconds.

I also hear a rattling or clattering noise between 1800 and 2200 RPM's. Accompanying this clatter is also a vibration that I can feel in the gad pedal. I've had this problem for as long as I can remember. I've brought it to the dealer twice and I get the usual," can't duplicate problem". Has anyone been able to figure out what is causing this?

Sorry man ...i called and all they did witch was mentioned in the earlier post was basiaclly tighten my timing chain while they were in there. I had the "timing chain slap" syndrome, that other noise, you got me too..... man it doesn't too good in your case.....

well got the car bac yesterday. well the noise some how disappeared for a while so the tech ain't hear it, and the service writer tried to see if i can make it happen again and for some reason all the rattles disappeared. surely soon as i left the dealer they came bac so i don't care for them right now. the start up rattle is practically silent ( still hear it a little) right now when it was loud all the time before and the rattle when u rev is loud as before but car runnin strong as hell so i live it for now. put berk intake back on and boy does that top end feel nice

I have a rattle in mine but it's the clutch disc going bad again. If any of you guys have 6 speeds just push in your clutch to see if the noise goes away.
