a week and free mods

ok well, im driving my dads 00 maxima 5spd all this week and yesterday i got bored, wanted some more sound, so i unbolted the back muffler, sounds like crap IMO but its not bad for the 5 minutes it took, what else can i do with the stock pieces to make the car a moded a little, could i do the cheap intake where it uses the stock one and makes it suck cold air? i think its in the FAQ guide thing, the muffler is of coarse going back on at the end of the week, but is there anything i can do that my dad would aperciate, like a pratical mod that would get her a little peppyer, being hes 54, hes still a kid with it but he in no means grannys it

Take the thunderbird out of your profile and sig please. Took me awhile to realize you even drove a max. Get an intake, clear side markers and maybe some gauge rings.

muffler off is ghetto. put that **** back on before you get a ticket. Driving around with no muffler does not sound cool, it sounds like.....um.....that you have a bad muffler and are too cheap to replace it.

If you know what your doing, then you would never take the muffler off.

Remove the MAF its a restriction in the intake, plus it don't really do anything.

Driving with no mufflers only sounds cool if you're driving a Neon SRT-4 (1st production car with no mufflers) Sorry I couldn't resist

on a related note, in your sig, what is all this stuff exactly?

-Removed Air Silencer (sooo....you took the muffler off your T-bird too?)

-J-mod

-FRPP Blue 9mm Wires

-Autolite 764's gaped .058 (is this a mod?)

-180 stat with 4 drilled holes

- 'Speed Holes'

not flaming you, seriously I'm just curious.

Never lost to a Neon yet, I think they sound like a.ss. Remove the MAF neva the less its a restriction in the intake, Nissan put it there for emissions reasons just like the cats. I been driving without one for years on my Honda, no problems.

well for the bird the intake silencer is a piece in the fender well that can be just taking out, gives the car a true CAI

j-mod, it would be a shift kit desihgned by the maker of the tranny, a 4r70w is the stock tbird tranny, its an AODE basically, with diffrent 1st and 2nd gear ratios, but the desighner of the tranny wrote up a custom shift kit using all ford parts that makes the car shift harder, quicker, and last longer, so its a must do

the FRPP 9mm wires are just spark plug wires, ford racing performance parts, there blue, and pretty, i would just stick with stock as wires dont add a single hp, but the FRPP wires are a good 50 dollars cheaper then stock wires, 80 for FRPP vs 130 for OEM

autolite 764, are stock heat range plugs, the .058 gap isnt the stock plug gap so its kind of a mod, i just had it in there for the t-bird forums, and i copyed and pasted it over to these forums, just b/c i actaully own the bird, i love maximas alot tho

180 stat, stock t stat temp range is 195, the 180 stat opens sooner, id figure youd know that though, and basically for the 4 speed holes, in muscle mustangs and fast fords they drilled 4 holes around the base of the t-stat so the cooling system got a little bit of coolant even with the t stat closed, it runs at a good temperature, i did this more b/c i wanted to see the diff vs a regular 180 stat, it does run a little cooler, but obviously not overly cool, just cool enough

as for the maxima, i get the ooglie CAI, so im probably gonna find a way to modify the stock intake, and the muffler thing, yeah i was just playing around with the car, im not unhooking the maf, im not stupid, the muffler goes back on very soon, i just wanted some sound out of it
