Automatic Flush Service?

I got my oil changed today and they asked if I had my automatic transmission fluid changed at 30k. I have 45k on the car and I don't think it has ever been done. I heard that you were not suppose to flush the fluid out, and I also didn't want to pay the 120. Any info would be very helpful.

It's a good thing to change your auto tranny fluids often, especially with the auto maxima. U not suppose to change the tranny filter though.. that's the thing but flushing the transmission is pretty simple. Lift the front up drain the fluid, then fill it up with new fluids. I use mobil1 synthetic in mine.
cost about 5 bucks a quart. Or go with B&M trickshift it's bout 7 bucks a quart. u'll need around 5 bottles. Most mechanic place can do the job for you for $59.95 - $79.95 if you don't want to get down n dirty.

your owners manual will tell you to do it every 30k miles. my local dealership charges $120 also...what a ripoff. i have 50k on mine...and have never done it. i will likely do it at 60k or just before.

$120 is not a ripoff for a flush service. It's the only way to ensure you have gotten all of the old fluid out. 30k on Nissan fluid is about all I would go. Mobil 1 and Amsoil will allow you to go much further. I'm not sure who told you not to flush your tranny, but flushing is the best thing for it. If you only drain it and refill you only change about 1/3 of the fluid. Your not supposed to flush if you have very high mileage and never changed the fluid.

check the How-to section, you will find out about ATF flush. I did mine last month, I flushed 95% of the old fluid from tranny, you don't need to go Dealership or other general shop. You can DIY.

Read the "fluids" section of this board. I followed the directions by unhooking the return line to the tranny and removed 2 qts at a time. Did this six times. Replaced the original fluid with mobil synthetic AFT (used 12 qts) and the tranny now shifts like a dream! Better than when new!

I got my auto trans serviced about 2 wks ago and it cost about $120 but it wasn't just a flush which was a lot cheaper. After that service, my transmission feels sooooo much better - smoother and more precise shifts. I just want to take care of that 2k1 autotragic

I haven't done mine, my car has 72K already. Do I have to actually flush the transimssion or just change the oil. I really would drop the oil pan and clean everything. Any suggestions?
