New MAF for $650 CDN???

I just got a quote from the dealer for a new MAF sensor (just the eletrical unit) for $650 canadian dollars( roughly $500 USD)..I read somewhere on the forum that people have bought theirs for $200 USD??

Is the dealer just BS'ing me?
Thanks

Try calling Cassleman Nissan in Sarnia, Ontario. see what they say. If they have a decent price and you go for it, i'll see what I can arrange to get it to you!

Yeah...wtf? MAFs aren't supposed to cost more than 150, as far as I know. Look around eBay for some comparison prices, and ask others here too.

DAVEB's number for OEM parts is 888-254-6060 and his email is daveb@adpub.com.

Yep...$599.99 CDN + taxes!

It seems that there's a huge difference in price for MAF's here in Canada! Every Nissan dealership in the Toronto area sells it for $599.99 CDN. The exact same part # 22680-2Y001 for the MAF.

I just ordered mine earlier this week (Victoria day for us Canadians) from Dave B - Southpoint Nissan for $83USD + shipping.

Hope I don't get dinged by Canada Customs!

Here's a copy of an email reply I got for a parts quote request from a Oakville area Nissan Dealer This was their discounted "Internet rate" too! Well they pretty much discounted the taxes...

Vehicle Information
Comments

2000 Nissan MAXIMA
Specifics:
6 Cyl
Automatic
2 Wheel Drive

your lowest price please with all internet discounts applied. will pickup. thanks,

Mass Air flow meter $599.95 (IN STOCK)
Save 15% off this
price plus taxes

I also took the tip from these forums to go to AutoZone in the states (Rochester, NY) from Toronto to get the code pulled...otherwise 1hr in Nissan labour charges at $85 CDN/hour...

Got the P0174 Too lean Bank 1 for the SES light...same situation as well?

I know...they charge for every small thing here in Canada....My belts squeak on cold starts and I once paid $30 diagnostic fee to the dealer just because they spent 1/2 hour trying to find that noise!!!! bunch of idiots

we should try to find a shop in the US that will ship to Canada while offering great prices... sounds like Dave B is a good one. yeah, i am suck of stealershipin Toronto area as well. one time i had to bring the TSB there to tell them what to fix in regard to the cold start issue that plagued for over 1 year.

Mass Air Flow Sensors

Just got told this week that a bad one of these is why mine won't turn anymore than 4500 RPM. I just got done replacing the O2 sensor. I thought these cars were suppsed to be reliable ? If I am looking at changing a bunch more of this electronic junk I might has well bought a Chevy or Ford. At 67,000 miles what should I expect next ? Maybe it is time to sell it and get a <cringe> Honda !
