lesson learned. EBAY CAI isnt for me..but maybe for you???

well ever since i put the Ebay intake on, i have been really really happy with the sound it made, made the car more alive, one thing i did notice is since i do not race my car and hardly ever take it past 3000 revs the pickup has been horrible

so today i decided to put the stock behemoth of an intake contraption back on. One thing i immediately noticed the car is much more responsive at under 3K then it was with the Ebay Intake. Its too bad that the sound is no longer there, but the power of the car is back

so if anyone wants to buy the intake i'll sell it to the first person who paypals me 50 bucks

here are some pics of the Intake

the only reason i got the intake was because i needed the max to sound a TINY bit meaner. i am more then happy with the power output and dont need anymore power, i just dont need to loose power, exhaust mods are out of thr question at this point

You should've known that the Injen knockoff was crap. Should've went with a Berk intake.

I just threw on my Injen intake this afternoon. It works, sounds and looks great.

You get what you pay for!

did u use the filter that came with it?, if you did just go buy a apexi filter or k & n, there is nothing wrong with the intake it is made the same way as the injen only difference is the filter

ok back to the topic at hand. i noticed the same thing with my injen, but the y-pipe took care of any loss and and then some. i plan on switching to berk in a couple weeks though. got a chance to hear it in person and it's sooo much better than the injen.

air intakes DO NOT cause you to LOSE anything! all intakes only shift the powerband to more high-end - often resulting in less low-end power.

so...don't blame it on the ebay knockoff! i have one and love it. put on an Injen, Frankencar or GAB and you will get the same effect.

I've owned every air intake possible, and with all you DO in fact LOSE low end response making the car feel boggy. Its not the cheaper ebay knockoff it happens with all intakes. If you don't think so go put the stock airbox back on and drive around and tell me different. Of course I don't expect much when this place is polluted with OMG I cleaned my throttle body and the car feels like a top fuel dragster now threads

thank you for clarifing my previous comment, Blu. I should of said they do not cause you to lose HORSEPOWER like everyone claims. but again, like Blu said, with all of them, you will for sure notice less low-end punch! you still have the same amount of HP as always on the low-end...but it will be crappy off the line.

Since aftermarket intakes are less restrictive to air flow, why does this happen???

Maybe it changes the velocity of the incoming air charge and that either disrupts the MAF or causes turbulence in the intake? Maybe stock nissan MAF can't handle increased flow?
Not sure why a WAI causes you to lose low end tq. Would love to know, though, a technical or other explanation for this.
