How many times have you traded?

Just wondering how many times you guys and girls have traded. I myself have traded 7 times in 9 years. I guess I'm just never satisfied with what I have. Damn you car industry for always coming out with something better....haha. My dream car now is the G35 Coupe. I drove on today at my local Infiniti dealer and it makes my Maxima feel like poo. Don't get me wrong I love my Maxima especially with all the mods I've done, but the G35 is just as fast as my car is and it doesn't have the stiff ride like my car does and in the coupe I could finally get an auto that I wouldn't mind owning. I guess I may end up being one of those people that never pays a car off. What the hell, I'm single and in the Army. So I really don't need to save for a house because I move every couple of years, besides what else do have to do with my money. Anyway, thanks for listening. Please write in and tell how many times you've traded. Also, if your a person that rarely trades, then please explain how in the hell you stay with one car for so long. Below is a list of car's I've had.

1) 1993 Honda Civic Si w/5spd
2) 1992 Ford SHO w/5spd (dumb trade)
3) 1998 Izusu Amigo w/5spd(well at least I got rid of the pos Ford)
4) 2000 VW Golf 2.0 w/5spd(2 months later the 1.8t is released, damn you VW)
5) 2001 Nissan Maxima SE w/auto (nice car, but a little slow compared to the manual version)
6) 2003 Nissan Maxima SE w/ 6spd

I never trade cars in, I just seem to geather em up and keep em for a while then sell em off. But I never actually traded in on a car. My next car will be a Hybird, cause I don't feel like spending 3 bux a gallon on gasoline. I used to smoke cigs- cost me around 35 bux a week, for 2 months I been smoke free so the gas price jump don't really affect me- I used to fill up and get cigs. But I will keep the Max and drive a Prius the gas prices keep on increasing. I hate SUVs. I wish gas prices where 5 bux a gallon cause this would hopefully kill the truck market, and bring back the frugal sports cars !

I was once in the armed forces and also single. I have only traded 2 cars in my life. Both were Maxes. You should reconsider saving your money for your future. I started saving from day one because I knew that someday my military career would end. I had my money saved to make a good down payment on my current house. I am only 5½ years away from paying it off. It was easy for me to keep my cars for a period of time. I only had my first Max (89) for 2½ years before trading it for a 92. I kept the 92 for almost 10 years before trading it for my 02. I plan on keeping my 02 for at least 10 years if it holds up. If you want to go the way you're going. you might as well consider yourself renting cars because you never plan on keeping them too long. You will probably see what I mean someday when it's time for you to reenter the civilian sector and have to live in a house or apartment.

take a look at my sig... and before i owned all the maxima's, i had:

1986 chevy celeberty 4cyl, had more rust then paint.

1988 acura legend... the sunroof leaked, so everytime it rained, and i were to pull out of my drive way, aa waterfall of ice cold water went all over me. hahah... to funny. then upgraded to the max, and has been love at first sight, so i kept loyal to it.

In reality if I were to buy the G35 Coupe, it wouldn't affect me saving for a house all that much. Right now my unit is on orders to deploy to Iraq this next month. When I come back, I'll be an E-6/SSG bringing home a little over $3100 a month. I've already figured out that even with the car payment, I'll still be able to save $500 a month with ease. This is only because I'm single with no kids. I do see your importants in saying I need to look at saving for a house. Which is what the $500 a month would be for. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get back and see if when the car's paid off if I really am going to trade. If I do trade I need to look at buying used, so I don't end up owing so much money. Anyway I guess only time will tell.

$500 a month is a good amount to save. Save more if you can though. You can never have too much money when it comes to home ownership. You never know when you might find the person you want to settle down with and raise a family. "If you stay ready, you won't have to get ready."

Yeah, the Army seems to make rank a lot faster than the Air force. Anyway, the G35 Coupe is so nice, I mean my car feels like complete poo versus it. By the way which are you going to pick, the auto or manual. I've always been a manual person, but to me if I can basically get the same performance in the auto as I can in the stick then I think I'll go with the auto. Besides, being that it's an Infiniti it just seems right that it's an auto. On another note, I too was planning to sell my car before I go, but according to my calculations, it seems it would make no difference either way. So for now I'll hold on to my car and then at least when I get back if I decide not to trade, then I'll still have a badass car.

Oh I hear on that. I'll try and save as much as I can. The $500 a month is a realistic number, but you never know it could be higher. It could be as high is $700-$750, depending on how much I send each week. I really will nothing left to buy for my apt or house when ever that comes. The only thing I plan to do is buy a 57"-65" HDTV and a 18"-19" LCD monitor for my computer. Outside of that I want and need nothing else. Speaking of family though, I really want one someday and I would like to find someone when I get back. Until then though I'll enjoy my money being my money and my money being her money....haha.

Thanks a lot for your support and I'll do my best to stay as safe as possible. Luckily my job in the military is support and not combat, so I'll be somewhat safer then other more combat oriented jobs. I guess I'll be a safe as you can be, being in a war torn country surrounded by people who hate you.

Been drving 20 years never once traded in a car because I don't like taking it up the a$$

I figure I must have saved myself 20k+ since 1984.

But hey, if you have the money or if your mommy and daddy are going to spring for ya, might as well take advantage and have some fun while you can.

Now i've got my '02 Maxi and a '97 Explorer that I bought for the winter and somehow didnt manage to sell once the weather got warmer. Anyone interested?

I owned a 1991 Ford Explorer for 3 years (first car).

The Maxima is my second car. I couldn't imagine swapping cars every year...

Hell, I drove a 87 Hyundai Excel, but to tell you the truth, when I was going to HS, I didn't care what I drove. I thought I was cool just to have a car.

my first car was a pimped out 1990 pathfinder. I even had 98 rims on it, and a nice lik rockford fosgate system. That car was apiece of junk, but man i miss it.

As to the topic, I love my max, though new stuff comes out, i'm totally content with the max, and i plan on keeping it for years to come. I will get something else when money comes along, but why sell it, when it's lost it's market value, and it's a great car, more and more mods, and it's so young (20k miles).

As far being just as fast as a g35 coupe? That's all the more reason to keep the max, the g35 is nice, but you can't have everything at it's best always, be happy with what you have.

I did not get my first car until I was 23. In high school, I rode the CTA public buses.

MaximaPolak;

Jealousy gets you no where. Don't hate on kids that are fortunate, you would do the same, if the offer was extended to you.
