Its a mass air flow sensor, that basically lets the computer know how much air is going into the engine to set the fuel ratio.

lol, yes this is true. take care of it when installing an intake... a sudden jolt, or too much pressure to get it off can be instant death to it. (wll not instant) still...becareful if you do get an intake.
the 5th gen maf are especially senisitve for some reason...

Would one of you Maxperts please provide instructions on how to change this out for one of us Maxamatures. 2000 max would be great, but I would bet 2k1 nad 2k2 would also be appreciated. If there is a thread about this, a redirection would be much appreciated.
