Maxima owners who treat their Max like sh*t.

Know any of them? I certainly do. My uncle has an 03 GLE, grey lustre, with 6-CD changer, and leather (no spoiler)...and you should see how terrible the car looks. Massive (MASSIVE!) dent on left corner of the bumper, dents on the doors, near the gas tank, scratches, and the hood is warped so it doesn't close fully.

I want to shed a tear everytime I see that car. I'll try to post some pics of it, it looks worse than it sounds.

Yeah. I just love the car far too much. My friends crack on me and tell me I treat it better than I've treated any of my past girlfriends.

Today, while my dad had the car for a little, he went to my grandmother's house. I guess he parked underneath a tree full of birds...'cause when he came back, the passenger side of the car was covered in bird sh*t! I'm at my uncle's house (same uncle with the beat up Max) and I just can't stand seeing the Max covered in bird sh*t. So I ask my uncle's step daughter for some Windex and a bunch of paper towels. Got every bit of bird poo off the car. =D

soonerfan;

Complete detail every week? I hope you mean washing and waxing it, otherwise, compounding it each weekend, i think is overkill (and would eventually wear down the paint).

I compound it like every 6 weeks, apply glaze and wax every couple of weeks.
Sheesh, i wish i had time like u do.

I think compounding the car is a bit overkill....UNLESS it's got A LOT OF swirls...I which case compound away....we've got clear coats, so a carnuba or syn every 2 or 3 weeks is good....

Swirls on a ding/dent less Max is a sight for sore eyes to a detail freak!!!....

But this is taking the thread to the detail section.....

I too drive mine like I stole it from time to time....but that only on smooth pave highways....I LOVE THAT VQ!!!....Other than that, I drive like an old lady in the city....

you know as good as it looks, waxing and polishing every week isnt good for your paint, unless of course you do it all by hand....otherwise, everytime you wax or polish, you cut a little bit into your paint..

I must say though after that happened I cleaned 'er up all nice and everything was fine (after I realized the wobble was because I still had 2 lbs of mud in my rim)....Everytime I go mudding in my JEEP some stupid things always go bad...abs sensors, mud in the places it shouldn't be.....Maximas are the ultimate vehicle when you look at all aspects which is why I'm trying to get another one.....Test drove a 2003 6-speed with 4,000 miles on it....basicly typical se with a sunroof and nothing else for 15,400 (salvage title) I'm in love but I need someone to take the jeep off my hands (I've been driving around with dell boxes inside for weeks and no one wants the boxes or the jeep)....when I do get a maxima no more of that stupidness so you guys don't have to worry I wont embaress yall

Hmm.. people that treat their max like crap..

THAT WOULD BE ME..

I used to have a 2k2 maxima, BABIED, always dealer serviced no matter what the cost. Washed all the time, interior detailed like every week...

THEN A MOTHER ****** took my baby away.
http://members.cardomain.com/minirx07

Now i have my 2k3... I never wash the car, have too many dents to count, i smoke int he car, have about dozens of cigerette burns in the leather, dents all over the hood.. Plus because i installed that POS sarona body kit, there is rust forming everywhere.

Interior has crap all over the place including gum, fries, ashes, wires, etc.. My car is a disaster...

I give up on making the car look clean. As long as the car runs strong, then i am happy. Shiet i dont even car when i back my car into a wall... Sometimes just for fun to scare others, i just bump my car into somethign ... Since my front and rear bumpers are already crapped out..

My 2k3 even got rear ended wheni first BOUGHT MY CAR in 3 days with only 70kms on it. This being right after i crashed my 2k2.

In the end. Maybe one day, i will fix everything up, but now i have too much crap going on to detail the crap out of mycar.

This could kind of be me, I am a smoker and I smoke in my baby so the headrest on my tan cloth seat is starting to turn black, Ive tried several things and even paid "professionals" to try to get it out but it hasnt worked. I have several paint chips on my hood and my front Skyline style bumper, the paint is flaking off due to the crappy work I paid a local shop some good money for, I have sent there information to CCC. My rear bumper has a couple of gashes on it from someone hitting and running, didnt notice it until I went shopping and came out and saw 1/3 of my taillight missing, I was so ****ed I practicaly sat in the parking lot staring at it for a couple minutes in disbalief. Went back to my apartment and I saw the pieces of my taillight laying where I had parked so I know it was someone in the complex, I checked out everyones vehicles near me for the next week but never noticed any damage to anyone elses vehicle. My front bumper has damage at the bottom of it due to how low it is compared to the stock bumper and with all the steep entryways to several of the stores here in SA it scrapes a lot and I learn by trial and error the best routes to get there. So now because of the bumper, if I do not feel comfortable about the entry I either find a longer, better way around to the place or it is no longer a place I shop at. It is all mainly small things but according to some of the things posted here you would consider me a bad owner even though you only know what you see on the outside. I use Mobil 1 synthetic every 2500 miles, since I live at an apartment I do not have the luxury of having a water hose next to me otherwise I would wash my car every week, but I still manage to get a car wash about every other week, I make sure my car is well maintained to the best of my ability but I am currently a low ranking military member paying rent, utilities, car payments, and child support so I cannot just go out and get a nice brand new paint job whenever I feel like it. I will get one, dont get me wrong, I plan on keeping my 96 for life, it is just a matter of time. I plan a new paint job and a nice new black interior rather than the brown/tan with nice black leather seats, and, by that time I plan to have quit smoking so a cig will no longer get anywhere near my baby. But as far as the chips and dents and things like that, it is mainly exterior, you should also check to see what goes on in the interior, maintanence wise cause we all do not have the money whenever we need a new paint job.

Edit: Now that I go back and really check those others out, I take damn good care of my baby, other than the headrest, couple of paint spots, and the dent in the rear bumper from the h&r, I keep my car clean, I smoke in my car but I clean the interior often so it does not look like an ashtray.

Yes it is. No harm, no foul. Just some good old fun. Other than the abuse from that day, and an occasional run down the 1/4 mile track, the car is extremely well maintained, inside and out.

MaxSE2k: wish I could say the same for mine ... don't know if you got a chance to see P. 4 & 5 from one of my earlier posts in this thread but here are the links anyway

http://maxima.cardomain.com/memberpage/205862/4

http://maxima.cardomain.com/memberpage/205862/5

here's the short of it, his passat broke, needed a new motor, took the max from me (was originally his in '98, decided to give it to me, then took it back for himself again) and it was a while that his passat sat, unfixed, until early spring of this year, so after he fixed it he gave me the max back, and what did I see when I got it back? Scratches up the a$$ (most of them are buffed out, but some are still deep), the whole inside trashed, the engine dirty as hell as if he took a mudbath somewhere, the power antenna bent, which later on broke off, and the whole outside flithy. Now, after giving my max a nice wash 'n wax outside, a nice cleanup inside and some armor-all on the dash, along w/ cleaning the VQ, more steam-cleaning and polishing to it, my max now looks almost as if it were brand new .. now if I can get it to run like new.. oh yeah, did I forget to mention he's negligent on maintainence as well? he didn't bother to tune it, flush the cooling system or tranny, or even do a whole 60K service on it

I will pretty much have the whole front bumper re-painted, probably in July or August, I'll keep everyone posted on the rest of the restoration

I dont know if you guys can agree with me but I keep my car clean like almost all the time and it hurts twice as much when I get mysterious dents or paint chips.... it feels like I wasted time keeping my car clean....

oh well, i guess its just me.

That's the same mentality my uncle has. But that mentality is missing a grain of login. Most of us paid nearly $30,000 for the car. We want to keep the car looking its worth. We paid 30k and we want to keep the car looking like a $30k car. If people buy a $30k car and treat it like sh*t and then say "who cares, as long as it runs", then why not buy some low-range Daihatsu, Hyundai, or Kia? Spending 30 grand on a car only to treat it like crap...now THAT'S a waste of money.

And yes, I know this thread needs pics of my uncle's car. I'll probably do that today when he comes over.
