engine stalling
hay, i just bought my max for 4 days now and my engine stalled for like a sec earlier today....did this happen to anyone else? it didn't stall for long but for a 32k car i don't expect anytime of stalling at all....should i be concern about this with the least bit? thanx
yes and no...
First, Nissan engines are 200K engines and they do require a lengthy breakin. Aside from the 1000 miles required in the manual, your engine will change alittle, all the way up to 9-10K. Many of us have had random starting trouble at times up to 6K. It can also idle rough and hiccup. The upside is that it clears up and the engine will last forever.
However, there have been some rather unsettling issues of cars being delivered with all kinds of odd problems. Like bolts overtighted, fuel fouled plugs, and bad coils. (in my case it was A/C overcharged from factory and failed).
another thing is that the max is picky about gas. Give it 91+ as the manual states. its compression ratio dictates its use.. If you do take it back to the dealer, try to keep some gas receipts handy. On my rough idle problem, they kept telling me it was bad gas. I had to show them receipts for premium gas from different stations before they would really try to find a problem. Of course they said there was nothing wrong eventually

Not for nothing my car has 21000 miles on it and when its cold it shutters which i learned to live with(it only happens when shes cold, she likes to warm up first)My point is when i first bought my car i had a serious mass air flow sensor problem which they then replaced. My car used to run fine then stall without any notice.
one more thing ive been reading forums and Nissan dealers suck everywhere! i thought it was only Connecticut but its everywhere and its always the service dept....... Is this me or do you guys see this happening?

MAF and dealers
My MAF experienced a fatal malfunction at about 9K miles. I had a cone intake, which also caused the engine to stall frequently - it couldn't stay at idle, even when I engaged the clutch to approach a stop after driving 70 mph for 45 minutes. Upside (relatively speaking): The dealer dispatched a tow truck immediately, stayed past working hours to wait for my arrival and replaced the MAF. They didn't even bat an eye at the cone - they just re-installed it for me. Still - what with the blown MAF and idle problem, I took off the cone and went with the OSCAI and the K & N drop-in. Haven't had a problem since. Maybe I'm the exception, but my dealership, service, parts AND sales are all top-notch (except for one guy, but hey - one in a good sized dealership ain't bad, am I right?).
