trouble with JIC's
trouble with JIC's
I can't seem to adjust the dampening on my front driver's side coilover.. I put the key in and turn with all my might and it kinda moves but will not click either way. I didn't turn it any harder for fear of breaking the tool or stripping the socket. All the other ones are fine.. I tried jacking the car up and turning it because i thought maybe it would be easier if they weren't under load... no dice
sooo... does this mean my strut is blown? or is there some quick easy fix or trick that i'm over looking? anyone got any advice?

what adjustment are you talking about? the ride height or the dampening? with the ride height you need a spanner wrench. as far as the adjustment for the dampening, you should tae the coilover assembly off and follow these instructions:
liberally spray the turning **** with wd40 while turning the ****. it may click a couple of times, but keep going. one trick is to go as far as you can, BY HAND, and then slowly back it off before the prior click. this should help sed the **** back into the coiolver. continue on with the clicking until you reach the maximum setting. I went to like 16-17 clicks. I didnt want to go too far for fear of wrecking my coilover.
I got this info from one of the guys at JIC magic.
btw, I have the flt a2's. I dont know how much different the a1's are. but try this method and let me know your progress.
edit:
if you can, try to find something to put underneath the coilover so dirt, and moisture dont get in there. I would suggest some type of styrofoam cut to fit. this would eliminate or decrease the amount of crap that makes the adjustment **** sticky
