Y Pipe with CAI

My whole engine/exhaust setup is stock with the exception of a Place Racing CAI with MonsterFlow Air Filter...would getting a Y Pipe really do anything at all for power with what I have now...i would assume not..i really don't want to touch the exhaust bc i don't want to change the sound...if i were to buy the y pipe do you think that it would significantly change the sound bc i love the way it sounds now with the CAI and also I was told to get the y-pipe at www.budgetexhaust.com where it is much cheaper than say custommaxima who now has their own y pipe on top of cattman...any suggestion for brands?

I have always heard that the Y-pipe DOES make a big difference, even stock... since it removes precats, you get more torque all across the RPM range (?)

The Y-pipe discussion has probably been beaten back and forth many times, but I've heard that Budget is just that... cheap crap. Warpspeed and Cattman also make Y-pipes, maybe others?

i'll let you know soon enough. i also have a PR CAI and i ordered my cattman y-pipe yesterday. i went with cattman b/c it's stainless steel & will probably last longer. there's a GD going on right now for the cattman y-pipes for $289.

hy would you assume that? the y pipe is the single best bolt on power
adder you can do for the 2k-2k1 max. (a full set of headers MIGHT give you
a little more hp). it will certainly give you more than the 3 hp you picked up from the cai.

I dont understand why they call it the "single best bolt on" either. Maybe it is just an outdated claim, because the headers definately do produce more power. I would think that after headers that the Y-pipe is next.

Anyway, I will be going with the Cattman y-pipe too. The construction is better and the materials are better than the competition, and at $289...Im in! Im not just buying this for quick power, I want this to last the life of my car too.

Do yourself a favor... Get the cattman. Remember, you get what you pay for! (edit) Unless its with Steallen of course

Y pipe is still the best mod (for the money). You'll get more HP with the headers (maybe, some dynos were questionable) but they are a lot more expensive.

If you add an intake to suck more air in it has to go somehwere, so you need to mod your exhaust to get that air out!
