Flywheel or Hotshot Headers

I would like some advice. I want to add a little mo0re boost to my max. I am nervouse about the headers being too loud and I am not sure if a lighter flywheel is a comparable upgrade (in terms of 1/4 mile tome) to headers

My current setup:

Catmann CAI
Warspeed y-pipe, b-pipe, resonator, and muffler (this muffler is about the same design as the stock muffler but just a tiny bit louder.....

Please let me know what you guys think....

Thanks

I'd go flywheel then headers. The flywheel just makes the car soooo much more fun to drive

Need more info... what kind of boost do you have? SC, Turbo, Nitrous? Is your car a 5th gen or 5.5. Those headers make a bigger difference on the 3.5 cars than the 3.0 cars.

flywheel is a killer mod, un-noticable to the eye, and who drag races anyways ? Seems like everyone on this forum likes to just drag race, cause our road racing/autoX forum is dead, and everyone is over on the drag racing forum. My friend whos got a 6spd Max drove my 5spd and he says it has lots of power, just the torque aint as good... but throttle reponse his reply was- I want mine to be that responsive at any RPM. If U tend to road race or autoX, U will love the flywheel, headers are nice but just make the car louder and not emissions friendly. If U get a flywheel make sure to get a Fidanza and who ever installs it for ya knows Maximas. If U live in IL, I do just bout anything on Nissans/Infinitis.

so you think a flywheel would give me better acceleration than the hotshot headers or do you just think the flywheel will make it "more fun to drive"?. Fun to me is feeling the torque of and engine as it reaces its redline. I think we still need more input here. Also fun to me is not getting beat by one of those damn Dodge R/Ts. Their little engine revs up really quick. I would like me engine to rev up a lot fast and I would lke the extra power with a minimal noise increase. I have heard somebody on here say that their car did not get much louder with the headers because they were running an almost stock exhaust. My exhaust is slightly louder than stock. I have a resonator and a muffler build specifically to dampen the noise. Any extra input. By the way, My brother in law and I would be doing all work at his shop so installation fees are a 12 pack

If power is what you are looking for, get headers.

alright, flywheel is going to make ya loose torque off the line a little bit- this is why they are not good for drag racing crowd. But I venture to say a 3.0L like mine with no headers but a flywheel vs 3.0L with headers and no flywheel would get roasted from 40MPH to 70MPH Roll. My throttle response and engine reviness is nothing like stock, when sitting in neutral and stabbing the gas my VQ revs up to redline just as quick as a ZO6, normal LS1 don't rev up to its lower redline as quick as my VQ. Also U mention R/T boys.... which R/Ts ? Dodge has alot of diff R/T labeled cars- Interepids ?Dakotas ? Neons ? Stratus ? U have to remember Dakotas don't redline anywhere close to our engines eighter. I would do both headers and flywheel- should take a good mechanic more than half a working day to do it- clutches are 1 hour job for me.

I highly doubt anyone has went to the track after every mod they put on there car. Modding your car is like building a puzzle, each piece completes the car even more. No mod by itself is going to do all that much, but when they're all combined they can do a great deal. Although I think most people here would agree that if any mod does more than any other it would have to be a set of Hotshot headers. Anyway, after all the mods I've done on my car I can say that I've been very pleased with all of them except for the Stillen headers, I wish I would have gotten Hotshot's. One thing to keep in mind is that 1/4 mile times are dependant on how good the driver is. For instance I got a 14.3 in the 1/4 mile with the mods I have, but someone else here hit a 14.1 in there bone stock 2002 Maxima. I think as far as the fastest 1/4 mile times of a modded Maxima go, Blubyu2k2 or SR20DEN have the record at either 13.5 or 13.6. Those times are without removing seats and all that other crap, now SR20DEN holds the fastest time record with a 13.1, but he took out his seats, spare tire, jack, and even his air conditioner compressor. Anyway, I hope this helps and have fun modding.

I dunno how is the AC compressor affecting performance since when its off it acts like a idler pulley. Its only when the magnetic clutch engages the compressor will it drag down the engine.
