mechanics techs etc
I know there are some experts who hang out on this board but not the General Max board. If you guys really know your stuff I am stressing out about this new situation with my car. If you'd look and help I'd really appreciate it.

I am not a certified tech but...
They are claiming that someone pulled a wire out of the harness, spliced (at the very end) a new wire into the junction connector and put the wire back into the harness. Is this correct? If so I will proceed. The wire that was "spliced" in leads to nowhere? Are you proficient enough to remove the wire from the harness and "undo" the splicing? I tend to do stuff like that so that when I remove my equipment from my car I leave no trail behind.
MY opinion (that is all it is/worth) is that the place that you took it to really does not have any idea as to what the problem is. That is why they are not going to guarentee. They are taking a large guess at being something that is not normal so that must be where the problem is. Not bad theory MOST of the time. But in this cause sounds like it is costing you.
What I would do, if possible, remove the wire completely. Make sure that all the leads in the harness are tight. When you remove a wire there are metal/plastic prongs that hold the actual connector piece in the harness that can get loose or lose their shape/integrity. When this happens wires shift around. I understand they "played" with the harness and could no replicate the issue. Try and do this anyway. Drive around. If problem still exists, take car to an alternate Infiniti shop and have them check it out.
Again, I am not any type of tech but have messed around with this stuff and agree with you. I think the Infiniti techs at this current shop are on the wrong trail.
Any more questions you can email me directly. I can try and help you the best I can.
