p01706, or p1716

Does anyone know what they are?

The dealer is saying something about a tranny switch position sensor, which is malfunctioning? Stuck in park or gear?

I have a 5 speed.

Any advice.

Thanks in advance.

"Malfunction is detected when the signal of the park/neutral position (PNP) switch is not changed in the process of engine starting and driving."

"Possible Cause:
-Harness or connectors
[The park/neutral position (PNP) switch circuit is open or shorted.]
- Park/neutral position (PNP) switch"

Thanks for the info. I hope that the dealer is correct. They want 130.00 or so.

You can try just buying a PNP switch for $15 or so and swapping it out yourself.

My guess is the switch is bad, but it could be an open/short in the harness somewhere.
