Max vs. an STS

The STS got the jump on me from the light cause I wasn't paying attention when the light turned green. I saw him jump then I got on it and cooked him. I thought they were better performers. Anyone been up against one?

if you mean an STI, then whoever was driving the STI was either not trying or does not know how to drive, their 0-60 time is less then 5.4 and its all wheel drive so its a lot better traction then us. If it was a regular WRX, then maybe, they are not that tough

Yes it was a Cadillac Seville STS, with the Northstar, but heavier than a Maxima

guys are we missing something... remember the SATS is a 6.6 on the 0-60... it is a fast car...... but it is only automatic. There are two version if I remember the one that says seville on the back... which is slower than the true STS that it says SATS onthe back..... they are fast and realy quick.... but no match to ther Maxima.... 5 speed or 6 speed..automatic then it is a matchh......

STS is a quick car...the only problem is that the gearing is too small for that car...the change gears too easily...The max has tall gears and can keep pulling

:attention

1. people with cadillacs are not likely to be really racing. he was probably just in a rush. I have ricers try to race me all the time because they think I'm racing, when really I'm just trying not to be late to work.....
2. he could buy 2 maximas for the price of his STS (at least) so I doubt he cares.
3. street racing is

irish;

FYI, cadillacs have just as terrible resale value as our maximas, if not worse. Don't be so sure he can buy two maximas for what he paid for an STS. That may not be a new car.

Also the thing is a tank, and i'm sure it hauls once its moving, but the car is lunch for a 5.5 gen.

mjg....

with "standard" accessories.....

2003 Maxima GLE Edmunds/blue book trade in value: just under $17,000

2003 Seville STS Edmunds/blue book trade-in value: a little over $30,000

so...maybe 1.9 maximas, not 2.

i love the internet....

96 I30t off edmunds.com
------------------------------------
1996 Infiniti I30
4 Dr Touring Sedan
Dealer Trade-In, Private Party, Dealer Retail
$5,564 $6,811 $8,533
Now da Caddi STS of same year.
--------------------------------------
1996 Cadillac Seville
4 Dr STS Sedan
Dealer Trade-In, Private Party, Dealer Retail
$5,853 $7,150 $8,940

That was a 50K dollar car back in 96 also... I30 wasn't 30K bux YET.

STS is a unreliable boat like EVERY american POS vehicle.

well since jgibson has a 2003 maxima, we were comparing it with a 2003 STS......

the bottom line is jgibson has a GLE maxima, and assuming the guy had a 2003 STS, the guy certainly was not jealous of jgibson's car.....

I just love this pointless discussion...I agree with irish44j. The STS is more of a cruiser and not a sportcar...the Maxima is a mix of luxury and sport...you basically you are comparing red apples and green apples.

soonerfan;

i wasn't doing the racing. I wouldn't waste my gas.

How do you know he was an adult, why do all you guys jump to conclusions.

My boy, just picked up a 2001 sts for about 21 grand or so. He's a 25 year old guy.

You know, to alot of people outside this org, and to general maxima owners, maxima is just a reliable FWD sedan, and definatly not a sports car. Sporty sure, but it depends who is driving it. We hook our cars up, and make them sportier, but they are what they are.

I'd take the maxima, any day of the week. I don't feel inadequate because i don't drive a status symbol, and geez what does, ANY of this have to do with the fact the guy wanted to run one? It seems this thread got out of hand.

p.s
Just because i didn't spend all my money on a certain car, doesn't mean i couldn't afford (nor most of us) a status car. We like what we like. If you like the caddy so much, i'm sure u can pick up one with like 4 years on it for what maxs go for.
