Keyless entry mod for 00-01?

Hi
I'm thinking about making a controller for 00-01 max, so we could roll down/up windows ( or more.. planning on 3-4 channels/functions) with our remote.
Ran some tests and i think it will not be that hard.
The only question I have.. is.. where is located receiver for that remote. is it a separate module? built into ECU?

SECU(Smart Entrance Control Unit)...it's under the plastic by your right knee in the drivers' seat.

Found SECU. ;-) it has 2 harneses... anyone has a wiring diagram for 00 max.? That would save me a lot of work...
Maybe you guys have some ideas... on what could be controlled... i'm thinking about :
- rolling up/down driver's window / all windows.
- option of auto rolling up windows when locking door.
- option of auto rolling down windows (1/2 inch?) when car is off and inside temp goes over 90? ;-)

Anything is possible... post your ideas / dreams..
after looking at max wiring i'm very optimistic.. i just need a wiring diagram to check few things.

i don't want to say anything yet, but i think cost would be <$50

keep it simple..
roll down front two windows half way when unlock is held for 2 sec..
roll down all windows when unlock is pressed twice to unlock all doors and 2 seconds after to roll down all windows half way
roll up all windows when lock is held for more that 2 sec..

sounds good. but maybe someone will have some kind of a "great idea". There will be no extra wiring or work... it's just a matter of implementing it in software for that controller.

Sound good to me... But that would be f*ckin cool if the car could role down the windows 1" above 90 deg... I just wish we had rain sensing wipers so they could role back up if it started to rain

I would def. pay to be able to do this. What does the timeline look like? Sorry I dont have any diagrams, but Im sure someone here does!

rolling windows down 1" is not a problem, rolling them up again is also very simple... but all we need is a windshield rain sensor... and these are expensive ;-) but if i roll windows down.. lets say 1/4 of an inch... light rain will not get inside, but it should lower the temp anyways ;-) there's plenty of possibilities... but i need wiring diagram first :-) or 6 months of spare time for reverse eng. ;-)

I'm definitely interested in this! I like the idea of rolling down the windows when unlock is held (and also opening the sunroof ), and closing everything up when you hold lock. I love the idea of cracking the windows in heat, but the rain is an obvious problem.

Whenever i need wiring diagrams i go to the shop that does all my installs right near me and they subscribe to some site that has them all...you just need the diagram for the SECU(Smart Entrance Control Unit)...right? Write back and I will try to get there today and scan it on the site

Kruppa: that would be great.. and for motivation... ;-) yeah.. anyone who helps with figuring out that wiring will get some kind of a "gift" ;-)
MyownNismo: these are for.... driver door? and what is the lock/unlock motor?. Also is there any pin for reading a signal from remote (eg which key was pressed etc?)

Those are the wires that are at the SECU same wires that where hooked up to my alarm minus the windows here are the window wires.

LF window up/down Blue-green at window switch
RF window up/down red/wht-red/blk drivers kick panel
LR window up/down yellow-red drivers kick panel
RR window up/down green/white-green drivers kick panel

Use polarity tester to find out each polarity for up and down.

Would we have to send in the controler to have it reprogramed or would we be able to do a purchase with a core charge. Would that work since all of the remote signals are different?

If we do have to send in our unit, will I be able to opperate my car with just the key?

hey guys this sounds cool, but dont the newer Infiniti's and nissans have this done already? i was wondering if we can just use the secu from like the 2k4 maxima which has the window roll up/down thing and just add a few wires. or would that be too expensive and dumb?

Ok... just to answer some questions...no you don't have to send out anything.. that would be a separate module that you connect to your SECU and one of the door harnesses. That's all ;-)

Ok some major update... ;-)
what i need:
diagrams / secu pinout
driver door wiring diagram.
location of remote receiver module... is it built into secu?

as of right now i don't know how to detect that one of buttons is pressed for 2 secs.

i can do something like that:
unlock - unlock - unlock : driver roll down
unlock - unlock - unlock - unlock : all roll down
lock - lock : all roll up

the same thing of course will work when using regular key. This type of control is very simple to make.
Ok i'll wait some time, maybe someone will find some wiring info.. that will help a lot.

But you can be sure that soon we will have remote controlled windows ;-)

There is definitely something that keeps track of how long the buttons are pressed for. When you hold both buttons for 2 seconds the car goes into "quiet mode". If we can find out how it handles that, it might help with the other features.

I remember reading on a Lexus board that they didn't have to rewire anything to change the behavior of their keyless entry system, they just had to reflash the system that controlled everything. It was completely software driven. Would that be an option for us?

How do you plan on having 3 non-auto windows roll up and/or down? Threads asking for auto-up/down on other windows come though here all the time because everyone thinks it is just a matter of getting new switches. This sounds like the same idea, different application, yet just as impossible without new window motors. And then you are talking much more than $50.

Skizza20: I know there is... but i'm still trying to locate Receiver module for our remote. Even if i find it it may use some nissan-invented one wire communication with secu.. and then.. it's hours and hours of work to figure it out. I'm trying to keep it simple and cheap. The same with reflashing SECU.. yes it is possible.. but i don't have that much time ;-D

Kojiro_FtT: I don't see any problem with rolling those 3 windows up&down... it's just a relay that will "press" one of your window switches for.. let's say 5 seconds. those 3 windows will not roll down though if something is stuck in it.. (like AUTO windows do) ;-)

Not that it helps us, but I have a .pdf copy of the lexus power options that can be set by the dealer. If you want to change something, you can go to the dealership and they can, for example, change the time required to hold the trunk button before the latch pops or they can change the headlight reminder buzzer to a different frequency. While we may not have some of the Lexus options, I can't imagine that Nissan did things SO differently as to not have the ability to change these things.

BY THE WAY, Lexus offers the option to roll DOWN the windows by holding the remote unlock button for a period of time, but North American vehicles can not roll UP the windows the same way. There must be some insurance issue that someone collected on at some point (auto closing the windows on someone in the car maybe).

but reprogramming power options by a dealer is not that easy .. they have tools, they have different flash files. i don't have any of that, i don't even have any info about it... ;(

Hmmm... I dont really have any personal conections with Nissan/Infiniti, but I could ask if the dealer would be willing to part with a copy of the wiring diagram.

I have a haynes manual for my SAAB and know that it has a bunch of wiring diagrams. Is there nothing like that in the Maxima Manuals?

all i need now is time.. ;-) plenty of time...
i have all electrical diagrams notes etc...
now it's just reverse eng. and that takes time... i will have to make another controller that will probably plug in between SECU and wires that connect to it. once i make that controller ( design pcb/ write program, program the CPU etc) i will be able to do all kinds of tricks... like setting up the headlights to stay on after you leave your car and all kinds of other goodies. all of these features would be user programmable so you could turn them on / off. but like i said it's not an easy projects... i work 2.5 jobs.... need time.. plenty of time. I will post updates avery few weeks
