Help I got 0420(engine light) and Nissan don't want to cover it.

I got engine light 0420 and I went to the Nissan Dealership to have it fix. I showed them the Bulletin(recall), and they told me that that only cover under 36,000 miles. I thought it cover under 80,000 miles. My car have 61,000 miles. Is that true, that only cover under 36,000? Can I fix it by myself?

Thanks

Is it a TSB or Full Recall? All I saw on Nissan's website was the Transverse Link recall.

Mafiaguy, call Nissan NA, be nice, explain your situation calmly, say you are enjoying your Nissan greately, bla bla... ask them if your problem is covered under 60k warranty. If it is, tell them you have 61k and ask them if they can do you a big favor and cover that. If they say it is covered go to ANOTHER dealer and get it done..

No. The car is asking for some chronic...LOL
J/K..I believe it is a bad sensor. From experience if the car has more than 36k and you have no extened warranty, you will have to pay.

Good luck

that's the same story I got from Nissan, the only emissions equipment covered by the 80K are the Cats. O2 sensors are not covered.

The code is for one of the pre cats being below the operating thresehold. I thru this code as well but have not took it to nissan yet. The funny thing is that my pre-cats have been gone for about 3 years now and I just got the code. goofy CPU.

its not mechanical, its a ECU glitch. Nissan requires dealer's to upload new software for your ECU under federal emissions warranty because it registers as a "catalyst inefficiency code"

just go to another dealer

Man Nissan is making a *KILLING* off this money maker ECU bug and I see ALL of us getting it eventually.

Your 02s are fine, it's the aging cat and oversensitive ECU saying it's not working although it is. Problem is....Nissan is forcing 02s to be replaced before the ECU is "desensitized" inorder to get $$$ out of the customer.

It's an ECU issue as stated above and covered under federal 8/80. The dealership that's turning down the modifications is violating federal law, something you might point out to them. O2 sensors are not 8/80, but cats are.

Problem is they won't reflash the ECU unless you buy/pay for 2-rear 02s(cali) or 1-rear 02(fed).
