Hi everyone...I have a 2K maxima with the 17's and the stock Bridgestone Potenzas. I live in colorado, and last night discovered much to my dismay that these tires are horrible on snow and ice. Any suggestions for some good winter tires that come in 17's??? Thanks for your help.

AHHH SNOW ALREADY

ew. ANyhow.... For good cheap tires go with Firestone (yeah, firestone) WinterFires....Best Bang for the Buck Tire.
If u need really really really good... go with like Blizzaks
or something
Michelin Arctic Alpins aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Actually maybe they are -- I had firestone tourings or something on my RWD TBird... we got like and inch or two on the road... I could barely move... it was horrible... with the snows and no weight I got goin pretty good... so maybe there was a differece I was petrified of driving over 40 tho cuz once u did the back end liked to slide back and forth and spinning out felt inevitable I do like being able to swing the whole car around tho... with one stomp of the gas
I will be so glad to get FWD.
go to http://www.deja.com for snow tire reviews & http://www.tirerack.com

also, just look for some cheap big luggy lookin snow tires... I had like $40 specials that looked like "REAL WINTER TIRES" AGGRESSIVE PATTERN, etc... on my FWD Escort THAT WENT THROUGH ANYTHING
I drove on roads with 1-2 feet of snow never got stuck, never had a problem
those were great I gotta go loook @ the name... I think I still have them I'll let u know if u email me and remind me

2nd set of wheels

as an option:
i bought a gxe and put on 17", but kept the 15" stock stamped w/ hubcaps and put on a set of blizzaks. They kick *** in the snow and on ice - cost a bit though. you might want to look into getting a set of 15"(or whatever) used rims & hubcaps from a local shop, the nissan dealer, or even from another max driver in the act of upgrading the whels. why: because the blizzaks, (especially in 15") are real 'squishy' and dont handle all that well when warm. this way you can just jack it up and interchange the tires yourself in an half hour as the weather forecast dictates without having to get them mounted and balanced every time. it'll prolong the life of the hydrophyllic(phobic?) outer 40% of the tread on the blizzaks if you can quickly garage them when you get a warm streak.
it's also handy when you come out in the morning to a flat tire and can put on a real spare instead of the donut.

ps i'm in salt lake, it snowed here on saturday (freak event- it's all gone now)

snows

I'd recommend the Nokian Haakepellita 1's
They are made in Finland, and the Finns have snow 7 or 8 months of the year. These tires are slightly pricier than Blizzaks but last way longer. Put some studs in 'em and you'll go through any icy conditions better than an AWD without em.
