Well after being in the bodyshop for the better part of 2.5mo looks as though my car will be ready soon. the shop is taking care of all the body and mechanical damage and I have to take care of the airbags, I would like to have them when I get the car so I can toss them right in. I know the airbags and at least 1 of the seat belts need to be replaced and I'm pretty sure the SRS module does as well (if not please let me know), but I am not sure which module to get. How can I tell if my car has 2 or 4 airbags? when I get the car I will be able to tell by taking the old module out, but I would like to have a new one in hand by then, I tried asking the guy at the shop but he has been less than helpful.

Anyone know?

Maximas only have 2 airbags. Driver and passenger front. Side airbags were never an option and still aren't to the best of my knowledge.

yea they do have them, I have a 2002-2003 FSM and it is shown as an option, and you can find side impact bags for the 2000-01 maxima as well as 2 different modules on any nissan parts website

Yes, there are side airbags on the 5th gen but it was an option that are mounted on the side of the seat. They had them on the 4th gen on the last model year. I remember it distinctively.

Just look on the side of your seat. It will have some sort of label sayin there is an airbag there.

dam it! i was afraid of that, I'm glad they are there, but now it will be more difficult and expensive to get a replacement module.

Huh???? I have side air bags in mine. Look at the sides of the seat. There is a small label that reads SRS air bag system if air bags are installed.

They were only available with leather. Cloth seats didn't have that option.
