Updated pics of slanted muffler tips now flush with the bumper.

After all the comments the other day, and looking at the muffler tips, i agreed too that tips where to far out. It look ricey.I could have cut the tips off with a hacksaw, but i know the cut would have been uneven.Cutting them off with a blow torch would have been bad idea too...since they are part of the muffler. So i went back to the shop this morning to have them pull the muffler forward about 1.5".
Now the tips sit flush with the car.Everybody at the shop said it looked much better and didn't look ricey anymore.

Thanks you all for your input on the matter...

Looks good.

I liked it the other way........... but yes this does look better. My only concern would now be that your sterling mist bumper is going to turn black around the exhaust pipes. I might have trimmed it back but probably not that far. Hope it works out for ya.

You should get a FSTB, even if it is the 20 dollar polished ebay one. You motor just looks so naked without it cause I am used to seeing mine. You will like having it, gauranteed....

Only if i burned oil that would happen. Plus i am not worrying to much about it because of how often i wash my Max. I have seen **** on the bumpers with cars that have strait tips on the end.Of course there car looked like they didn't maintain it at all.....

Its about 1" clearance from body . The install guys say that is the minumum clearance they will alow on there custom install. Any closer and they would have to build a custom heat shield on the bumper. Like they said , as long as my car doesn't burn oil, which it doesn't , i should be fine.

German...

Not bad...kinda reminds me of a muffler I might see on a modded Mercedes or BMW though--"EURO" if you will. I kinda like the straight tip look for my rice-burner

Yeah that was the look i was going for, i had that setup on my 1994 BMW 328I, i had a Remus exhaust where the tips flaired upwards on it. My BMW friends love the look, i love it too, now that the muffler tips are closer to the bumper.

A question for you. You know that one of the by-products of the cat itself is water ..... you see it running out of most exhaust oipes when a car is first driven in the morning. With the ends of your pipes tilted up ...... how does this water ever drain out?

There are two small holes before the upward slant in pipe, funny you asked that, before i purchased my exhaust i was thinkig the same thing.

I think it looks great, and not very ricey at all.

Good water in the pipes question. Chances are the muffler is already designed to accomodate that with small holes at the bottom of the tips. If not, it would take but a few seconds to blow a couple of hardly noticeable 1/8th inch holes on the bottom side of those tips.

Thanks man....that sort of gives you an idea of what the Remus would look like on your car. When i got my Remus muffler i had the square style tips on them, i think either square or circle style tips would look good on the Max.

Yeah that 1.5" doesn't seem alot, but visually it makes all the diffrence in the world!

I had Remus exhaust on my Contour SVT. It was probably the meanest sounding CSVT in existance, and most of the guys on Contour.org will agree I still used the stock CSVT tips, though...
