auto tranny cooler?
auto tranny cooler?
Has anyone here put a auto tranny cooler on their max? I have a 01 SE and I was thinking about putting one on. What are the benefits of installing one. Does it shift better or more smoothly. Also, how hard are they to install. Will a shop install it for me? Thanks

Well they only make coolers for automatics. You'll beable to tell by having these especially after long trips. The tranny never shifts hard at all. Well worth the money spent, but the intall took me a good 2.5 hours.... maybe 3. I guess if you took the front bumper off it would be easier. Check out my homepage for pics of mine.

B&M. it's expensive but the design of the cooler is better than that of the Hayden.
The B&M is a better tranny cooler because it utilizes a bypass on the cooling while your transmission comes up to temperature. This smooths out the shifting while it's cold. When it gets warmed up then the cooler starts kicking in.

I didnt know they have a thermostat for the tranny cooler. I thought thermostat is mostly used for engine oil cooler. B&M offers a thermostat, but the fitting is desinged for engine oil cooler...IIRC.
however, B&M has a thermo-activated fan for the tranny cooler.
