The day has come, I just bought a S4 and my Max is 4sale

You heard it folks, I am selling out I just bought a white 2001 Audi S4 6spd with every option except Navigation. So I guess this is a hello and kinda a good bye (I will check in time to time for a while). I am sure you have all (well those who know me) noticed I never really post on the org anymore. These days I do not have the time to hang out online since managing my business is a full time job + some.

So just checking in to tell you guys I really appreciate and enjoyed the time we shared together over the years. It has been since I guess 99 I have been hanging out with you folks. Of course just about non of the origanal users are still here but I met plenty of awesome new people along the way to. So thanks again for the help and props, I've really appreciated it... I am getting sad now, lol, it was really a BIG part of my life. Just look at my post count to see what I mean!

The max is for sale at a blow price of $12K, see thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....58#post3029058 for details. This is another one of my crack head deals. I hate the selling car thing so I just make up a insanely low price. I sold my modded 95 max for $5K back in late 2001 on the org to. It later got totaled by the new owner though If you want my max check the thread out.

Time to find a nice chip and a BOV for my new S4

I used to love the S4 until my friend put a chip in it and the tranny went within a week. I hope you have better luck with it. Take care.

You, my friend are now officially f**ked!!
The only way to own an Audi is a 3 year lease. They have absoutely no resale and get used to every trip to the dealer costing a min of $500. When I took my very clean A6 to the Audi/VW dealer to trade in for a Passat I was offered $1500 less than loan value. Their excuse, "it's a used Audi they have no value" and that is a dealer quote.
Last week my sister in-laws 2001 A4 had its ignition switch blow while she was driving. The car simply quit running on the freeway. The good news is that after the ignition switch blew it fried her starter. Dealer charge to repair this $1200. But wait it gets even better. The dealer quoted her 7 hrs labor but had it done in 2.5 hrs but still charged her for 7hrs!
By the way I also had the ignition switch blow on my A6 and leave me stranded.

They are great cars while under warranty but look out.

why do you have to go and make a statement like that...thats kinda messed up so what if audi/vw has a bad rap. That car is faster, safer, and built with much more quality parts. not to mention the endless mods that are available. hey be happy for the guy he is getting into a much better car its all through the eyes of the the beholder...and hey i work for a VW dealer have you taked the time to see what OUR MAXIMAS are worth..hahaha you wouldnt even want to know!! **** i almost did the same thing last week i was looking at a 2000 6speed S4. i would have done it but it was just slightly out of my price range. $hit i would have bought that before my max if i had the money...anyway i just think its wrong to bash someone like that.
Hey good luck with it you'll be running 12's very shortly

actually, you are reffering to the usual Audi's you see on the street. the "S" lineup are tuned and supercharged they are in no way a regular Audi.

That's not true. Especially Audi and European cars in general have more problems than Asian and even Domestic Autos. I think they put to many fancy gadgets/gizmos into their cars

My cousin has an S4 and he had so many problems. He also said that a BOV won't work well with the turbo. It was chipped also and it had a tranny problem.

The problems are mainly electrical problems. Volkswagen can't make a window motor that can last more than a month.

The S4 is a great car but you're going to face some minor problems. BTW, go with the GIAC chip.

Wait, you can't go yet. You haven't finished fitting that 350Z manifold on your Max yet. Oh well....

Funny thing is you probably never realized how many people like me you've helped. Good luck and thank you.

Bye!

Have fun with the S4!
I've driven one before: comfy, fast, & fun.
Check out Champion Racing . Check out Mike Galati's car...that's whose S4 I drove, unfortunately it was the street version!

bye ethan

You really did inspire me to try a lot of new things even when ppl said it couldn't be done. I learned the 'screw it, i'll try it anyway and show you all!' attitude from you. The Audi ppl are going to be lucky to have you around to blaze the trail.

on the other hand, i'll be smoking the S4 until you get some new turbos so watch out!!

I used to own a 00 S4, in red, with a 6spd tranny and no Navigation eighter. After installing APR chip, Baily's BOVs, K&N pamel filter, APR downpipes with no cats and exhaust the car ran really hard. One day at a autox one of the turbos decided it wants to go BOOM. Blew my engine apart when the compressor and turbine went their own ways. One of the wheels ended up in the cat and one was inside the engine. Damanges cost 20K dollars, but I covered it all under warranty. I'm a EX Audi MasterTech, S4s are pretty reliable but the 6spd tranny is VERY weak. Watch for engine oil pumps failing. The 1st gen S4/S6 had a 2.22L 225HP Straight 5 engine with 20V and huge KKK turbo on it. Lag was there but with purrists till today- that is the most killer turbo engine ever from VW/Audi. 00-03 came with a 2.7L 5v per cylinder V6 with twin turbos and 250HP, and the current model has the smaller version of the new A8 V8. I got my Maxima right after getting out of the lease I was stuck in.

Excellent choice. I cross shopped one before I bought my '03. I loved the S4, but I really loved the lower payments on the Max. Enjoy.

Someone must have cut you a brake on the warranty issue with engine replacement.

Thanks for all of teh kind words, I really appreciate it I will definatly miss the times I shared with a lot of you guys. I will definatly check in from time to time to see what you guys are all up to. Maybe I will beven get the honor of moderating you foo's You better not act up, lol.

Regarding the reliability, I understand this is a factor. But beleive me when I tell you, nearly everything has broken on my maxima. Beleive it or not I do not even want to get rid of the max, I just can't take the down time from the contstant repairs anymore. I love the max, my car is just completly cursed... It is unfortunate since this car meant and still does mean so a lot to me. Honestly, my attitude on life has changed a lot, my prioraty's are really devoted towords working hard and making lot's of money. Oddly enough I am a pretty big time card dealer these days selling about $40K a month in cards. It's pretty crazy, it makes having any personal time on the net nearly impossible. With my interest layign else where I drive pretty easy these days, I do not go around racing much anymore. So hopefully taking it easy on my car will make for a more reliable ride. If I get a chip I will not be using the extra power very often, only during a a occasional race with a respectable opponent. I just hate loosing so I need to have the juice just in case things get ugly, lol. Well enough with me rambleing, you guys have allready put up with over 8K of my posts, lol. I use to post like 20+ posts a day, 365 days a year, hahaha! It was a life style indeed.

See you guys around, maybe I will show up at a max meet this summer.
