My alternator die last nite had to jump car twice to get home, since itz a sunday and most places where closed i was forced to go to a unfamilar shop to have replaced.

He's charging me $200 for a rebuilt alternator (1yr parts warranty) + $75 labor. Ive never had an alternator replace before, is this avarage price???

Brand new should be less than that.

 

I got so ripped off for my alternator...I think it was like $400 or a little more but with a life time warantee, not including labor. A week after it was installed I had to get it replaced again because it was a faulty alternator. I was so p*ssed off. I didn't pay for installation though.

 

You will not likely find a good OEM quality alternator for less than $200 unless it's a reman.

 

I would price one from NAPA or Carquest with a lifetime warranty. I bought a reman from NAPA for my truck with a lifetime warranty for less than the Nissan dealer's 1 year warranty reman.
