Audio SCV Low/Mid/High?

One of the options in the audio menu on the non-bose headunit is SCV with Low/Mid/High options. I tried driving around in each mode and can't tell and auditory difference. What is this option? Manual had limited info.

Thanks!!!

that would be Speed Controlled Volume....it increases the volume of the HU as your speed increases to compensate for the road noise. and when you slow down it automatically lowers the volume back to the volume you set it at. the low/mid/high options are the sensitivity options you can choose.

So the higher the sensitivity, they louder it will get with speed and the quieter it will get when you slow down?

I hit the Audio button until it gets to SCV and then I scroll through low/mid/high. That is all. Is there some other option I am missing?

I can only notice a difference with it set on "high". Try setting it there, close all your windows, get on a highway on-ramp at about 30MPH to start out and stomp on it. You'll hear a difference. Iv'e found that if your not specifically listening for it you won't hear the difference. I do not see any numerical volume change on the display. I think it's because your not actaully changing the volume setting, the system is just amplifiing it a little until your speed drops again, and the volume returns to normal.

An all but useless function in my opinion.

They have this on the stereo on the Honda Goldwing, and the volume really jumps up. Set up properly on a bike it's a great function.

I know cadallic has a great feature like this that will actually adjust volume, bass and treble according to the interior noises...

Its about as good as the similar system I've had on GM rental cars. You don't notice unless you're paying attention which is good, it's not obtrusive. I turned it off on my Max once and I did notice I now started tweaking the volume manually because setting it for at speed, it was too loud at idle.

Now if I could just get enough volume out of this stupid Bose system so I can enjoy the music at highway speed with the windows and roof open.

And where did they come up with the odd number of "31" as max volume. Is it 3.1 times louder than and amp that runs to "10"? I don't think so?

The unit in question from the original post is a non-bose unit that has the SCV.
