New problem in addition to the car dying

well, i took my car into the shop last week and they suggested a complete fuel injection cleaning along with changing the spark plugs which had only been replaced 20K w/ plats b/c they said there was a bunch of gunk in the throttle something? (wasn't the TB though) to cure the car dying problem when coming to stops that i have mentioned before on here. i told them to hold off on it until this week b/c it was going to be $120 and i needed to get paid first. so i tried to start my car this weekend to move it out of the garage, and now it won't even start. it just kind groans as i turn the key. could this be b/c of the same problem just getting worse, or is it something else? i have my own personal mechanic coming over today, but i wanted to see what people thought it could be to give him some ideas on probs. and solutions that other people have too... thanks for anyones help on this... just want to get the car working right again.

Have the ignition coils been replaced yet? Most 2000 Maximas have at least one ignition coil go bad before 60k miles, I just replaced all 6 of mine @ 70k miles. You should probably replace all 6 if they haven't already been replaced, they will eventually go bad. My car was also dying when the clutch was disengaged, the rpms would dip down below 3k, and the engine would sometimes die.

Check out this thread http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=198517 a lot of people have had this problem.

i've replaced one already b/c the SES light was on w/ code 1320 which is misfire in cylinder 2 caused by bad coil. that cured the dying problem for about 2 days and then it started up again, and only got worse and worse until now it won't even start. the SES light hasn't come back on again so i don't think that's the problem, but it still could be. does anyone know if the MAF sensor is bad, will it turn the SES light on and return a code for that? thanks again to everyone.

Vehicle should start and run (poorly) even with a tanked MAF, start checking crank/cam sensors and fuel pressure. If your Max is a MT see if the fuel cut TSB might apply. MAF can trigger SES Light (maf high voltage, low voltage, no response etc.)

BTW, most people will tell you that all 6 coils need to be replaced, as soon as one goes bad, because they all tend to go bad around the same time. So do that instead of one at a time.

Update: It ended up that my battery went bad b/c of having to start it so many times when it died all the time. So I got a new one, and that solved the non-starting issue then I had the MAF and TB cleaned and it runs perfect now... no dying yet, and seems a lot more responsive. Thanks for everyone's help on this.
