Squeeky brakes

I bought my car used and I've put around 10,000 miles on it. When I bought it, it had new brakes (rotors and pads). The car brakes fine, it is even and there is no shaking. For some reason however, with light to medium application of the brakes I've recently noticed a squeeking. I can't seem to pinpoint from which wheel the squeeking is coming from but it is pretty loud.

I checked the rotors and there doesn't seem to be any damage. What's the deal?

whoever did the brakes probably forgot to apply an anti squeal compound. with semi metallic pads, you are bound to get some noise sometimes but anti squeal certainly helps. im not sure if they used OE pads or not, which is why i mention this.

If they used really cheap pads then chances of squeel are higher. Usually with a higher quality pad you get little to no squeeling.
