Slower... and slower....

Hi
I have some problems with my max... It started like a week ago.. It's really slow & sluggish.. it picks up speed @4000 and more..under 4K it drives like a '96 auto civic with AC on ;-)
no SES..
any ideas?
seems like it gets worse every day.

how many miles and what kind of maintenance has been done? with summer heat, the air will be less dense and it will feel like it bogs when it get real hot no matter whether its stock or modded.

51000 miles... replaced coils 2-3 months ago.. other than that... plugs @30K , everything was fine... actually... just realized i used BK44 +/- 2 weeks ago... seems like the problems started after that.. i don't think it's a summer air... it was 70-90 degrees here for like a month now.
And also it's a huge difference.... like i said before... WOT and it takes at least 2 seconds to reach 4000 RPM, after that... 6K in no time.

hmmm... cali emissions? Maybe the swirl control valve isn't opening... should open just past 3.5k rpm. Make sure all vacuum lines in the engine are un-kinked...

The MAF sensor can be a bit dirty....

When 2k2WhiteMaxi's MAF was dirty and i gave him a spare 2k1...his car ran better.

Do you use premium gas? How is that air filter looking? How's the oil level? Is the engine running at normal temperature? Have you checked the tire pressure? Has the fuel filter been changed on your Max? What about the spark plugs? Start simple and go from there.

fuel filter?.. unless he's pooring dirt in the car .. i dont think there is a need for a fuel filter change..

try to clean your Throttle body.. that might help if its really dirty
the only other thing i can really think of is early symptoms of a slipping tranny...

This is an inaccurate response. What happened in 2K that allowed a FF, requiring replacement every 30K - 50K to never needing replaced at all? What market on FF does Nissan, that NO other car maker has? ...oh yeah..NONE!

I have a 2K1 and had mileage issues, not performance issues as this gentlemen seems to be having. I use only 93 octane from "good" gas stations. I replaced all kinds of things looking for my mileage to go up. I eventually ended up replacing my FF and got my mileage back. The FF was disgusting and held dark gray "sludge".

FF and REQUIRED gasket run about 29 bucks shipped from DaveB. Its about a 1.5 hour job (going slow and methodical because we are dealing with gas here).

I have a 2001 and i have the same things as piotroosh ...takes a long time to reach 4K and after that it feels as if i have turbo and to red line in no time but since i stay <4000 in normal city driving i feel as if civic can beat me from start.
piotroosh -> rather than go easy on the gas then then hammer it....what happens when you floor it from stop? Mine seems to be fine then and revs happily then...but its when i do civilized driving is when it is sluggish
