Nissan & DATADOTS issues... stickers?

I love my Maxima, I hate Nissan though....I live in Connecticut and I just got my car a week or so ago and it came from Maryland. I went to my local stealership and had them run my VIN to check for warentee which is canceled b/c it's a salvage car...no biggy, salvage or not they are responsable for doing work to my car under recalls (not TSB's!)....

anyways I told them I wanted DATADOTS put in and the manager @ Middletown Nissan is like oh thats fine and a good idea but you need to present us with a letter from Nissan USA that says you can do it, since you registered your car it might be a while until you get it so come back then. I was like ok I'll get the letter come back and he said fine.

Next day call Nissan and after ~an hr on the phone I spoke to someone who knew the issue and faxed me a letter I could present. He knew my VIN and all was cool. Go to Nissan the next day, manager rolls his eyes when he sees me. Even b4 I showed him my letter guys like sorry but we won't do the work since your car is has a salvage title bc we might not get our money back from Nissan *even though he had the letter with my VIN* WTF?

basicly what I was gonna do is go to another dealership just leave it there come back and not even mention the salvage status of my car, the only reason the dealer knew it was salvage is casue I was there earlier asking if warentee was still active....a$$holes

my question is though, are there DATADOTS sticker put on once its installed,,,,after seeing REMYKINS post and damage doen to his headlights I'm thinking twice about getting it done? Can I just get the stickers and hope the intelligent ones dont touch my car and the morons who would do it anyways just dont mess it up so much....Why I'm worried is cause back @ school I leave my car in secluded lots for sometimes a week or 2 without going back to see it so....

I live in Western MA and love the support I get from my dealer. If you live close enough to West Springfield, MA I would strongly suggest you put a call into Jerry Rome Nissan and ask for Paul in the service department. They do amazingly creative things with getting around issues like the one you are having. Send e a PM and I'll give you more details and my contact info. I'd be happy let you use my name.

Cheers.

You go to School in portland Maine? I am going up in vacation out in Portland area, should i not take my maxima? And if you are CT, Visit Bob Sharpe Nissan, i cant gurantee they will do the recall , but Bob Furman is the manager , just mention you need datadots done, and nothing more. They are nice there, but again no dealership is clean.

Goodluck, i would say, get a garaged parking, raise / lower your deductable to 500 or lower what you can afford , make sure your insurance company covers it. if your car stays there for weeks and you dont visit it, your making a big mistake. I would repark it and move it every day or two. find a garage, Put a Cover Over it? , lets face it, with the car sitting for weeks , your headlights could be gone and you wont even know after 2 weeks, and you will find your front end flooded with rain water, it will attract them to come again and steel your tires and other parts. Data Donts wont help, they will take there time over and over every night , You may want to get a very strong alarm system.

Honestly, Install 01 Headlights that might be the safest thing to do.

Keep me updated on what you end up doing.

I am afraid to drive my car to maine/ NJ / NYC
I take the my 01 civic, but i hate doing long range drives in the civic, but if my max's in danger i'll suffer the civic

Actually I go to school in Storrs, CT and live in Portland, CT.... so it's not as bad as NY/NJ

As far as leaving my car for weeks, most of the time while @ school I drive it at least twice a week but theres been a few weeks where I didnt touch it for 10-14 days being occupied at school during the week and then drinking to the point of no return on the weekends (safest thing to do is forget where the hell Maxine is)

Yah, getting 00 lights is easiest, unfortunately we can't search but when 02 lights became available to buy I was one of the first to be interested in a swap. I ordered them and sold them right when I got them since I had AE's in already and just totally decided to get rid of my car and get a JEEP which would be better since I would be moving things to school, leaving my car parked in the woods (had to park in the woods last year), and driving around in the snow. Basicly I love my HID's and I honestly don't wanna give in. On top of that people have gotten regular headlights stolen, maybe xenons more frequently but we gotta face it Maximas are hot stuff and unless we all wanna sell our babies and buy Camrys or Honduhs we gotta live with the fear some **** head is out there who is gonna want to take our rims, lights, radios, airbags, etc etc comes with the territory of driving a sweet car

Go to Middletown Nissan, go to parts department, ask for Mariusz (Mario), talk to him... I'm sure he'll be able to do something.. if not... talk to Asad. Guys in their svc dept are real *******s sometimes.

Adam, did the letter from Nissan have your VIN on it? If yes, the stealership should not deny service.

Datadots (and the bracket) do not stop thefts, and they do protect your HIDs better because they are much harder to remove. Any thief with some experience with datadoted Max should know not to mess with them. But you cannot do anything about those moronic thieves. Good luck!

What a small world, Asad is my really good friends father (Omar) and Mario is a cool dude, but he hasn't helped me out in the past (had some OEM NISSAN filters from my old maxima in the boxes and wanted to do an exchange and pretty much said no no no no) just an example, not a huge fan of mtown nissan
