Bose Stereo System problem

I took my 2002 Maxima SE into the shop today because of a recall notice. I asked them to also look at the stereo system because the left side speakers would fade in or out, especially when shifting gears. Turns out that Bose put out a service bulletin in Feb 2003 stating this problem existed and that the fix was to put in a new system, which the dealer said would cost 2000.00. Anyone else have this problem, and get any satisfaction from Bose?

I had the exact same problem with my Bose head unit. It only went out when I was playing a CD however. My dealer just put in a new (probably refurbished) unit. It has played fine ever since. If your car is still under warranty, then it should be covered at no cost to you. You might want to blatantly ask for the Nissan customer service satisfaction survey and see if they change their tune.

$2,000? It's only a headunit problem. The entire system does not need replaced.
