135 mph today

on NJ Turnpike... there was a huge accident at exit 9 so I figure all the cops are busy cleaning up the mess. Once I got out of the jam, I stepped on it.

01 SE, 5sp, stock. Car feels very stable, and the engine still feels powerful at close to 6k rpm. I was trying to hit 140 but I ran out of real estate on the left lane.

I am really impressed.

BTW, past 2 weeks I did mostly high way driving and I tried to log miles/gallons.... it turned out to be 28 mpg... very nice for such a heavy car. and A/C was on also.

I've got the 17" wheels. So you think I can do 150 with a full exhaust and intake? I'll try again and post if I do.

I hit 140 in my '94 SE back in my dumber days. It still had some juice left too, but i was approaching a curve. Haven't topped out my 5.5. You get a little wiser when u get older.
BTW... you are gonna get a lot of **** for posting this. hehe

I generally tell people not to speed like shmucks...but, there really is no other feeling than controlling a vehicle that's going 100MPH. There are times when I can't sleep, I bring the Max out and hit the LIE. I'd drive a constant 100 all the way up until I enter the County area. It feels incredible to drive 100 at 4 in the morning; no one's around, the road's are empty.

And the best part, is doing 100 on the way back and watching the sunrise right in front of you...makes me feel as if I'm in the commercial.

159MPH is Max speed with stock ECU. U are redline limited in 5th gear. I haven't attempted to hit that yet... I'm wiser than that.... even thou I love driving at 80MPH on the E-way at 7PM at sunset with windows down and speakers bumpn.

Going over 100 is a no no!!!
Ok just kidding... I shouldn't be one to flame but be careful, the car may feel stable but that doesnt mean state troopers care. Just out of experince, a ticket at that spee isn't worth it. I got my license suspended and two DMV points. Not fun.

But its still nice to know how fast the max can go!

we all do it and yes it is a wonderful feeling. im not saying it is wrong (though it is illegal and when we get busted we need to be a man and accept it). but it is wrong to talk about it on here. (like i would never post about my "friend" that was driving 110 on the 55mph winding PA turnpike)

hmm.. speedo stops at 160!?

Well the fastest i've ever gone in a car was in Hal's turbomobile. He removed the needle that stops the speedo.. um since his car was an auto once upon a time I think we hit 'N'. I think i left nail marks in his seats.

Fastest I've ever personally gone was maybe 149-150 on the way back from vegas with slammed95. Felt like it had plenty of juice left but I ******* out. Wind shears get pretty mean at that speed, and the maxima is not THAT aerodynamic. I think with enough road I could hit 160.

Yes I know it's wrong, but it's like the most liberating feeling ever.
