Whining Noise on Engine Stop

My 2000 Maxima makes a whinig noise everytime I turn off the engine. It sounds almost like a small motor either winding up something or just turning. It lasts for about 5 to 6 seconds, then stops. It started at about 60000 miles. Anyone have a clue to what causes this? Thank you in advance for your help.

It does sound like something is winding up - sort of like a winch sounds.

Yup its one of your motor mounts. On other cars their motor mounts just hold the engine to the frame of the car. With us
(I think automatics only) we have electronic motor mounts. Go somewhere else b4 you go to the dealer; it more than likely wont be covered on the warrenty uless you have a 02 or 03 max. I say live with it uless it is really really loud.
