I am not sure how many people read my post from a couple of weeks ago about beating a 6.6L 78 TA. Well....it happened again yesterday. This time he only had one of his friend in the car with him. I was riding solo. We both had good starts and we were side by side the whole way down the track. At the end of the quarter we kept on going until I hit forth at about 95 miles per hour. I beat him by 4 feet. It was a totally sick race! There is nothing like being side by side the whole down the track. Of course he wanted to go again! The second race he had a better start and my front bumber was even with his rear but I noticed a truck was coming the other way and I knew I was not going to be able to catch up after I hit the rev limiter going from 2-3....so I let off and got into the right lane. He was pumping his fist in the air and holding his index finger out the window to represent that he won that race. WHATEVER! I am not going to race him anymore because it is such a even race. I also get sick and tired of hearing "If I had a car that cost that much it better beat a 23 year old car!" This one is even better...."If I put as much money into this car that you paid for yours I would be able to spank that maxima!"

Anyone out there know what the stock times are for a 78TA going from 0-60 and the quarter are?

The 6.6 78 "Bandit" TA was more bark than bite. High 14s with traction were possible. The TAs used in "Smokey and Bandit" were all custom jobs with built 350-450hp 350 and 400 cubic-inch motors depending on stunts and sound. One was even a 4 speed manual.

You really need to go to KCIR and see what you can run.

I know! My cousin wants to go down there as well. He is the one with the 78TA. It has a four speed hurst with posi, with the T-tops. Just like the Bandit. It is a nice car for 3500 dollars. I am just surprised it doesn't have more bite than that!

Great kill

I figured I would add another reply to this thread. Hmmmm...I thought it was a good kill. Anybody else out there racing these v8 beasts and beating them w/o any mods? I guess I need to make some posts about beating accords or camry's to get their fires lit.
