New MAF Problems

My MAF blew after I got back from a Max meet in NYC on Saturday. I ordered the new one on Sunday. I was so excited to get my new MAF today (It's the newer version of the MAF for the 5th Gen.). I put it in... Started right up... Now it's acting a little funky at WOT. Almost like there's too much air coming in at WOT. My RPM's jump about 800-1000 and then drop back to normal. Is it just the ECU re-adjusting?

did you loosen any vacuum lines to install the maf? after my header install, i forgot to tighten the clamp on the intake side to the throttle body. rpms flucuated and i thought it was the maf. check all your vacuum lines and make sure the clamps are tight before you do anything.
