Compress springs?

ok..hmm i havn't gotten my springs yet. I like those progress spring with illuminas.
here's the question i need to ask. can i install all these by myself ? My dad told me he asked help from 2 other guys to install springs to his old car long time ago...Do i have to compress springs? can it be done by myself? i know springs can kill and dangerous. I mean..i'm not a 300 pounds big guy who's strong enough to compress those things. If this can't be done by myself. i'll go to autoshop have them install springs for me.

Rent a spring compresser from any autoparts store and then go to www.4dsc.com and read up on how to do it. The article is for a Third gen, but it's close enough. A Haynes or Chiltons manual will help too.

have fun compressing springs. It will take a while if you are not using any power tools. A friend of mine took his struts with the springs on to a shop and they did all four for around $35. It all depends where you go though.

yeah they have a machine that holds the strut in place and compresses the spring. Then you can pop the spring out and put the new one in. Check a suspension shop that is Mom and Pops.

Yup, you can do it yourself. Just take your time and follow instructions closely. I actually run this exact setup. How-to on my site.

You need a good vise to hold the strut/spring assembly. You can mount it to one end of a board and sit on the other end to hold everything down.
