Really wierd smell comming from car?

Driving home this morning.. and i pull into the garage. Well i get out and smell burnt waffles.. ( that sweet smoke smell) well i did some searching around the car to see if it was the car for sure. Well i get to the back wheels and it seems to be comming from the back wheels. What could be causeing this smell?

Its only happened once because i have not driven it again yet ( just havent had time)

Car was running great on the way home

And the E-brake was NOT on!

So if you have any clue.. let me know?

its a bad cat. the smell is from your exhaust that wasnt "cleaned" by your cat. thats why you smelled it in the back of the car

The smell of bad brakes resembles the smell of an electrical fire. Maybe you have a stuck caliper. If so the rim would be hot.

well.. Um it could be either the Cat or the Brakes.. First of all i have not done anything to brakes in last 30'000 miles.. and it didnt seem Super hot.. so i dont know bout that.. Um Cat.. maybe because i have an Exhaust cut-out near the rear passanger door. I really dont know.. I drove the car again and the same smell but not as bad as before. so any more help would be great!
