Is it legal to take it off? My friend told me it was illegal, but then I've seen a few people on here have theirs off, and I remember Corvettes don't have any. Have the po-po given you guys that don't have them any trouble?

depends on the state you are in. i live in KY and we don't have a front license plate at all. no need, and no plate to put on so...in my case no front plate. I would assume that if they give you two plates, that it is state law to put it on. But then again, I'm niether a lawyer, nor a policeman.

I live in Cincy and

I was actually "cited" (warning ticket) for not having a front plate. Then I had a 94 Ford Taurus with chrome wheels, tinted window, you know the usual that causes police to pull you over. I had 1 week to take it to the Civic center to prove I had put on my plate. What a pain in the ****! With all the other things going on in a city this dufus cites me for a front plate...Never did give me any crap about the tint though....Strange...

There are no front plates required here in North Carolina! However, when I bought my Max 6 months ago and picked it up...the damn dealer had drilled right into the front bumper , screwed in a front license plate adapter, and then slapped on one of those stupid dealer plates! Gosh, I was pissed. OH WELL!

i was lucky...

i live in OK, and we don't need a front plate. when i bought my car i noticed that the other max's(all 2000's) had front plates on them (dealer), my car and a gle were the only 2k1's the dealer had, and i didn't notice until i got home, but when i opened the trunk, the front plate adapter(the plastic thing) was in there, with the screws wrapped in plastic. i was happy i bought the car before they put that on there. you should have had them fill the holes and paint the bumper or something, just a thought.

I should've had the dealer do a couple of other things besides your suggestion come to think about it...like throw in some body-colored splashguards and knock off a few hundred bucks since the car had a lot more miles than I thought it would when I picked it up (it had to be driven from another dealer in the state)!!

Hawaii requires two plates, but Florida only requires one.

2 NizMaxse: Yeah, you should've seen if you couldn't gotten the car cheaper since they put mega miles on it driving from another state.

Honestly, how much money do you think I could've saved if I haggled the dealer about the mileage...?? They had to drive it about 162 miles, but the odometer read 468 when I picked it up. So, simple math says the car had 306 miles before it was even driven!! I know, I know...

Wow... And I was upset because my car had 54 miles on it when I picked it up. The dealer would not have come down on the price of the car just because of the mileage - they still consider it a "new" car... even with 468 miles on it.

But it sounds to me that your car was a "demo" car, probably used by the dealer for driving around town.

In CT, you have to have a front license plate on your vehicle. But I've never had a front plate on any of my cars over a 7 year period and never had any problems. I had tints on my cars, too.

I live in va and its illegal here to take off the front license plate, but alot of people do it. It really depends on how many dic* head cops are out i guess.
