Fuel Pump

A few weeks ago I had a tough time getting my '00 to start. I finally got it going and had no problems over the next 2 weeks. I took it to a mechanic who pulled 2 codes that non-specific for his software and then couldn't remember the codes when I asked him. Now it's humid again and it wouldn't start again. I had to get it towed to a different mechanic who said it's the fuel pump and it's only available from Nissan. They called a dealer an hour away and they didn't have one in stock so it'll take a day forthem to get it then a day for the mechanic to get it. So much for a nice weekend drive. Anybody else had probelms with their fuel pumps?

question for ya. is it hard starting after youve driven a short distance or just cold when it gets cranked up the first time?

i sorta have a problem with this. Around 3500 rpms to 4000 or 5000 i begin to lose horsepower. Im pretty sure this is my fuel pump causing this problem. I used a fuel injector cleaner. 2 BOTTLES of it. It did a temporary fix but its returned to the same damn way it was b4. Anyone know anything?

what makes you think its the fuel pump? if anything fuel injector cleaning might help short term would be a sticking/clogged fuel injector. however, if that was the case you should be getting a cel. i havent seen many fuel pumps fail on our cars but anything is possible. whats the rundown on maintenance and mileage?

did your mechanic verify your fuel pump as the cause of the problem with a fuel pressure gauge?
