Aftermarket sunroof install pix up!!!
Yeah I want to know how much it costs, labor, where did you get it done, and etc..... (I guess the guy at the dealership lied when he said I couldn't get an aftermarket sunroof in my max.) I'm concerned though about will it leak? Keep us updated.

I tried to beat the dealer's price of $1100 quoted to me by the sales manager. I think he had the wrong price because the salesman told me $1500, the same as two other independent installers told me. The manager stuck by his word (mistake?) and they had a wholesale company here in Houston to perform the work. The company is Classic Soft Trim and they perform only dealer orders for sunroof and leather installs. They did an outstanding job. I even gave it the power wash test and no leaks. They warranty it for the life of the car, informing me that if there is any problem, the dealer will pay for the fix just like any other new car.

How much did that bad boy cost?
Parts?
Labor?
$1100 for everything, including the wind deflector. They picked it up from the dealer on a flatbed, and returned it the next day. Another local installer told me $350 for a manual pop-up roof, $800 for a electric pop-up and slide-back roof, and $1500 for the factory style (slide into the roof or pop-up)

Cool! Looks like it opens up higher than the stock moonroof.
That's what I thought too. It's adjustable though. Initially it pops-up to the position in the pix, but by pressing and holding the switch, it drops in nearly half-inch intervals to whatever height the user desires. Pretty neat!

structural integrity?
i've heard that aftermarket sunroofs might affect the structural integrity of the roof b/c on a factory one there are (i think) reinforcements to keep the body together. did they do anything for your roof?
hey, how can we stock sunroof owners rig it so we can get the "close when key is out of the ignition"?
that would be neat... 'specially having a friend forgetting to close her sunroof while parking outside and it raining the next day... whoooh! stanky afterwards...

I agree. Auto close or warning would be an excellent feature. I never had a sunroof before and am not used to shutting it. Yesterday was the first warm day since I got my Max and I forgot to close it after work. Luckily I had to go out later and noticed it.
In case anyone

It's a Vermuellen-Hollandia roof (name has changed to Hollandia only, I believe), and the Vent feature is cool.....4 vent positions, full tilt and slide.....
Obviously, RMcoolX, is very happy as I am, and the main reason can be attributed to:
1) Buying a real tilt-and-slide factory style sunroof. Yes, it's $1200 to $1500 (depending on where you are), but it's worth it.
2) Most important, getting a good installer. Typically, installers that use Hollandia sunroofs usually know what they're doing and will do a good job.
I've had my roof for nearly 4 years, and my only complaint is my headliner, which has worn away around the edges of the sunroof because of how many times I've used it! The sunshade is fit snug, so it has just worn away the headliner fabric. Other than that, no leaks!
I much prefer this to a factory sunroof, as long as the installer knows what they are doing........
