All i can say is it is probably the best mod you can buy for an auto. It deffinetly put the fun back in driving my car even with the supercharger

So you are supercharged auto with just vb mod done to your tranny? If so how long have you been supercharged and have you had any tranny problems yet. I want to go SC too and looked into 5spd swap but it looks like too much of a pain in the *** and I remember reading a few people who were blown and had lost their autos even with the vb mod so I was thinking of going with a bulletproofed tranny and SC but I was just wondering how yours is holding up.

vb mod = the valve body modification to your auto tranny which is supposed to firm up shifts and make the shifts quicker.

i doubt it makes the tranny any stronger, or last longer for that matter but haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

I have had my supercharger on for about 3 months and just got the vb installed last week.Tranny life is mostly attributed to driving style. If you don't ragg your car from stop light to stop light you will be fine

VB mod = firmer shifts which = less slippage which = longer life for auto trans. Tranny cooler reccommended from what I've read. Like was stated above, don't be drag recing from light to light all the time.

I have it. I love it. I had 30k miles with supercharger and my tranny hold up really well. I did my ATF drain at 60k and I didnt have much wear on my tranny pan. the vb did a good job protecting my tranny.

make sure you get a tranny cooler if you decide the get the vb

How hard did you drive the car? I think it was WooCho who was the last auto guy to blow his SCed auto and if I remember correctly he also had the VB Mod but still lost his tranny. Also what pulley were u running?

I was running 2.87 pulley, 10psi, 273whp.

I am not a big time street racer and I didnt launch every stop light that I came across. But I did push it hard because SC boost was too addictive. I heard about woo-cho's case and it is different case by case. Jer has about 80 time slips and he drove his car like he stole it. well, he did replace his auto tranny in the end but at least his tranny lasted for a long while.

If/when you go to Maximum Tuning, let us know in the regional forum. Maybe some of us New Yorkers can meet up with you while you're down here.

That's it!?! Thank God I've been saving up money. This is the second mod I'll be getting for my car. (First mod is set of Turanzas).

Great Mod!

The VB modification stage 2 was the best thing I ever did to any of my cars. I had it done by Jeff at MAXIMUMTUNING. Great guy to deal with. The shift between first & second takes a little getting use too kind of harsh on a slow take off. But for performance its the best thing you can do to your auto tranny hands down. I can now stick with my buddy light to light. He has a 01 maxima 5 speed pretty much the same standard mods as my self Intake, Y-Pipe, Exhaust etc. With a good launch he has nothing on me. Which cant be said prior to the VB modification. Happy as could be with this mod

I'm assuming the $400 is for the VB and install? that's not too bad...

What stage did you decide on going for, and did they say what kind of tranny cooler they were going to install? $120 isn't bad for a tranny cooler install as long as they are installing a quality product like B&M's tranny cooler.

EDIT: Something I haven't heard much about recently is the drop resistor mod. Doesn't that have something to do with the tranny also? I don't even remember what it's suiposed to do, or if it's for 5th gens. Can you combine the VB mod and drop resitor mod for even better performance?

i decided to go w/the stage 2 because thats what they reccomended for me. and yes it is 400 w/install. if anyone else is interested in doing this maybe we can get a deal like 20-50 buks off if we can get a few people to go and get it done. anyone interested? maybe ill make a post in the GD section after i call them back and see what they can do for us.

the drop resistor mod is supposed to give full tranny line pressure when activated - this helps to reduce slippage when shifting gears at full throttle. but can cause harsh shifting if used when not at full throttle.

there's some indecision on whether it's required since some claim the tranny is programmed to give full line pressure at wide open throttle anyway.

combining this mod and the vb mod probably wouldn't hurt.
