Clutch question (5speed)

I have a question for you 5speed folks: I literally have to push my clutch 7/8 to the floor to prevent to clutch from catching - MUCH different from my 530 and my friends SHO. Does everyone's clutch start catching that low or do I have a problem?

it's the way the maxima is....nothing you can do about it. There have been some big threads on the subject and the general consensus is "you will get used to it" and "you can't adjust it without screwing up your clutch"- I don't even notice anymore.....and I came out of a honda that had a really short clutch.....

there is some slight adjustment that can be made to the pedal (under the dash) to make the situation better. I did this when i flushed my clutch fluid and it feels perfect right now, not too low or high.

most nissans i have driven have extremely low catch points. I actually like it better compared to hondas and other cars.

if you think the max is low, you should try a 240

Thanx guys - BTW, I never said I did not like it - I was just hoping that it's normal As always, the .org offers a piece of mind.

As I recall from others who have adjusted the pedal - they found that even though it felt better, it turned out that the clutch was not completely engaging/disengaging and the clutch plate was heating up faster (and wearing down faster).........it wasn't something they noticed until the clutch plate wore all the way down and had to be replaced (with under 50K miles...)...just a word of warning to be careful how much adjustment you do....

I don't think I'll be adjusting it. Actually I find the low-catching clutch "comfortable" in a sort of way.
