Will a y-pipe hurt a catalytic converter

I was just browsing around on the jerry rome nissan website and found out how much a catalytic converter cost. It is like $500 dollars. I will take my y-pipe off right now if it is going to mess up my converter.

It shouldnt hurt it any, so long as the air fuel mixture is correct.
