how many times have YOU smoked your clutch??
Just curious to see how many 2k2-2k3 6spd owners smoked their clutch accidently or by racing. I recently got my 2k2 and smoked the clutch by accident. The clutch smell only last for like half the day so it wasn't THAT BAD. I hear some people's smell lasts for days.
My old 96 I remember that I smoked the stock clutch REAL bad in racing at 110k miles. Then 200 miles later it started slipping like crazy for daily driving so I replaced it with an ACT. And then I remember my friend drove the ACT and he smoked it pretty bad by accident (wasn't use to the clutch) and I was affraid I had to get it replaced again. Well in the end, the ACT actually held up very well and still engages as stiff as it was when I bought it.
How long do 6spd clutches last? I have 27k of 75% highway on my stock clutch and smoking it once. Do you guys think it has another 2-3yrs before replacing? Thanks for reading

trust me.....in the high RPMs yer clutch can take a huge beating causing it to smell for the whole day....its possible.....especially if you ride out the clutch in those higher RPMs.....haven't done it in my car, but on AWD cars with high RPM launches, their clutches smell for days...
[QUOTE=mjg]eh.... It probablly shortens the life a bit, but if you don't it very often, should be ok.
THats what I liked to hear. I'm pretty sure I will take this as a lesson and be VERY careful not to smoke the clutch again. The reason being is because I am a poor college student and can't afford a new clutch. I hope this clutch can last till 80k+ *knock on wood*
