Engine Diagnostic Codes P0172, P0171, P0174 (System rich/lean on Banks 1 and 2)
Hey all,
I pulled into Autozone for the free diagnostic and got these codes P0172, P0171, P0174, P0172 in sequence. They refer to System to Rich Bank 1, System to Lean Bank 1, System to Lean Bank 2, System to Rich Bank 1.
I have a knocking noise when I go up hill and was not sure whether it was a MAF, a Coil, or an Oxy sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2000 Maxima SE with 93000. Changed the plugs at 92000. Love my car and am expecting another 50K out of her. The knocking noise seems less noisy since the advent of 93 Octane, but the SES light is still on. These were the only engine codes that came up and I am wondering if I should just get the light reset.
Thanks

Probably your o2 sensors as you suspected.
There is a TSB out on these o2 sensor problems, but it's only covered under 3/36 warranty. It involves an ECU reprogram and new O2 sensors. But the reprogram is only covered 8/80. Therefore if you wanted the TSB done you'd have to pay for the whole thing.
Probably easier to replace all the o2 sensors at this time and mileage.
also...ignition coils are a very common problem on your car...if they have not been replaced yet, then I would start suspecting them as well. Usually here we advise people to replace all 6 at once.
